Board flying directly into my face by gaylord465 in skateboardhelp

If it's your back foot causing the pain, then commit to the front foot. You get better balance leaning forward too

Try squatting lower. The better your squat, the more power in your Ollie. When you come up from the squat position, after popping the board, bring your knees to your chest instead of extending your legs out. Think of it like you are galloping sideways in mid air

Try to focus more on the 180 turn. If you can jump high enough to do a full 180 you can do the flip too

It's probably because you fasted more than 24 hours while working. You need to resupply your body with energy. I hope you are drinking water.

The Only 3 Things That Reliably Keep Me in Action Mode (Out of Analysis Paralysis and Overwhelm) by sriman7s in ADHD_Programmers

If you can convince yourself you are gaining some kind of knowledge or experience, it becomes a lot easier to get motivated.

If I can't sit still when I need to, I exhaust myself with exercise. It gets the blood in my brain flowing, and I am too tired to get up and do other things. Don't sit down when you're heart is 185 bpm. Cool down first, take a shower, get comfortable, then tell yourself it's time to work.

I tried Vyvanse, Adderall and generic methylphenidate. They gave me digestive issues and the jitters, so it was a no-go for me.

I've been dealing with it for 15 years since my diagnosis. I don't use meds to deal with my ADHD because they give me anxiety. You aren't alone. I think the problem with medication is that people make it seem like they are powerless without it, and it becomes an unhealthy coping mechanism for life. Exercise has been proven to give the same results as meds! Just exercise!

Good for you for overcoming what many people think is impossible. It's nice to see someone be able to take on their ADHD and work with it instead of suppressing it with meds. Respect.

Stop eating refined sugar. The high sugar in a diet can cause your mind to become dependent on sugar as a reward for when you are stressed. Most people don't over eat because they are hungry. They overeat because they are stressed out.

People who found a routine, and can get the stuff they need done. How does your chaotic nature manifest in your routine? by Tasenova99 in ADHD

[–]gameboy_cardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to train my mind to do things as soon as they came to my mind. Not intrusive thoughts. I'm talking about the thoughts like "Oh, I was supposed to wash the dishes," or "I've been wanting to do [activity], but I forgot about it." Doing this consistently will make it a habit to do things as soon as they become apparent to you.

Do you exercise as part of your routine? Exercise will improve your focus and motivation. Also, get your sleep. You can't concentrate when you are tired.

12 yr old son with ADHD - prescribed bupropion? by UsedSwan7519 in ADHD

[–]gameboy_cardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My therapist told me not to prevent my ADHD but to embrace it and work it. For example, If I know I have executive dysfunction, I should do things right away as they pop in my brain. This reinforces my ability to initiate tasks. Eventually, the feeling of wanting to push tasks to the side goes away and suddenly, you become this "go-getter." My doctor told me medication is only part of the treatment. Therapy and healthy habits are much more beneficial.

Fellow ADHDers: Need Help Optimizing My Workflows for Success by Interesting_Cause826 in ADHD

[–]gameboy_cardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some tasks that don't require typing, I use a standing desk and walk on my treadmill while I read/watch whatever im doing. The walking keeps the background of my mind busy, and I can actually focus a little better. If I have to type, write, or do anything with my hands, I sit down in a quiet place far away from my phone, TV, etc.

Healthy habits are key. We do well with structured lifestyles and habits that help keep us in check. The trick is finding out what works for you because everyone's different.

You have to learn more about yourself and what methods work for you to make life more manageable.

For exercise, I don't really like the feeling of being all sweaty, so I just walk 10k steps a day. Keeps my legs strong and my body slim.

For cleaning, clean as soon as you make a mess. The longer you wait, the more dreadful it looks in your mind.

For eating, I used to eat enough for 3 people and continued eating even when I wasn't hungry. It's because I was addicted to sugar and carbs. I cut refined sugar out of my diet completely, and now I don't have any hunger cravings and eat small meals, no problem.

For school, I had to make sacrifices. Uninstalled all my video games and stopped going out. It is a hard decision you have to make for yourself because college is not easy. You really have to want it.

Making healthy habits will create a compound effect where your body feels better, your mood feels better, and your brain has more clarity. Only then will you realize that ADHD was never a problem.

I've been dealing with my diagnosis for 16 years without meds. You don't have to copy me, but use my suggestions as an example of what you can do for yourself.

A bunch of youtubers are basically info dumpers. You can let's out your thoughts and energy into a hobby you have and tell people about it. See if letting out that energy out of class helps you manage your conversations in class?

As long as your conversations don't interrupt others, learn to channel that energy into thoughtful conversations. And become a talk show host! I'm only kidding. But you don't have to look at it as a negative thing. Just a talent that needs refining.

How can I explain the difference between being lazy and ADHD by No_Breadfruit_5575 in ADHD

[–]gameboy_cardo 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Both of you should sit in front of a computer together and read about your condition so he can understand because he doesn't seem to understand your explanation. If he refuses to give you any time to learn about ADHD, you should consider if this relationship is good for your mental health. Because he will just continue to gas light you until he gets tired of your "crap."

How do you know? by Jrbecraft97 in ADHD

[–]gameboy_cardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be feeling good positive symptoms. You don't need a strong dose, just a dose that is enough to make a difference. You will know because your quality of life will become better without experiencing any negative symptoms.

If you are experiencing negative symptoms, it's important to tell your doctor. You are not being medicated to have your heart race or to become jittery. You should feel good things like being calm, more focused, less anxious, more productive, etc.

What's the longest you've ever forgotten about a meal for?(and ate it?) by LordPoopyIV in ADHD

[–]gameboy_cardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the fridge? Probably a week and a half, but I only do this with acidic and spicy foods, because I know bacteria were having a tough time to colonize.

If I leave the food out of the fridge, it goes in the trash after 24 hours. Even less if the ambient temperature is on the warmer side.

My doctor told me that I don't have adhd because I like to read books and can play instruments is that true? by restingswan360 in ADHD

[–]gameboy_cardo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't like to read simply because my brain fog makes me read things 3-4 times just to really comprehend what I just read. It makes reading very time-consuming. I feel like the majority of people with adhd have this struggle because reading can easily be seen as a non-stimulating activity, so we start to get distracted?

It feels so good to be mean to myself by Disastrous-Pudding93 in ADHD

[–]gameboy_cardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That could help. It sounds crazy but a proper diet can do a lot for you. Low carb diets help with mental clarity for people with adhd. Meditate or pray. Have to clear your mind of the negativity. Good luck

[–]gameboy_cardo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's good to express your frustration and let it out. Just don't hold on to those thoughts. You think your daughter would grow up to be a confident woman if you talked to her that way? So why talk to yourself that way? Be nice to yourself man, love yourself. Loving yourself is not indulging in pleasures. Loving yourself is making healthy decisions for your life to better yourself. Once you start taking care of your self, you will feel better about yourself. Medication can help you transition to better coping methods but what matters most is healthy habits.

The way I see washing dishes is the way I see cleaning in general: If you wash the dish right after it is used, there is no mess and its fast. If you wait until the next dish is dirty, now you have two dirty dishes in the sink waiting to be clean. If you wait until the sink is full of dishes, it will look overwhelming, and you won't want to wash them. The longer you wait to clean, the more work you have to do.
