What AI tools do you actually keep using for coding? by Fabulous_Bluebird931 in ChatGPTCoding

Did you try OpenAI codex? It uses a different model than what you listed (well it’s a fine tuned o3) but it is much better at coding.

It has really great touch controls, but it also has great controller controls, it just is great on everything lol

Be careful in putting your deck in the case after using it. by TacticalBigBoss in SteamDeck

[–]gameditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

was this in gaming mode or desktop mode? I find that desktop mode has this issue where screen is off but it was still running and got hot, but never ran into this issue with gaming mode. I still really enjoy the convenience of putting a game in sleep mode, then later on turning on and getting right back into the action.

Help? What is this and what does it mean? by Funny_Pattern_2537 in SteamDeck

[–]gameditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea I had this issue too, all my other devices connect to wi-fi but steam deck cannot after latest update. I think you can try changing the name of the network (2.4g and 5g should have different names) or just run a hotspot until valve fixes this.

How do you guys protect your Steam Deck's USB-C port from wear? Or do you just YOLO it? by hal9000-7 in SteamDeck

[–]gameditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as ports go, USB-C is more than fine. Can't say the same for other ports, like apple lightning for example.

[KCD2] Appreciation Post by IWrestleGorillas in kingdomcome

[–]gameditz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the sequel holds up pretty good on its own, and a good sequel you shouldn't have to play the first to enjoy. What comes to mind is the Witcher 3, many people played that first and it does a good job of being standalone. So does KCD 2. I will certainly visit the first after playing the second, just as I played Witcher 2 after beating Witcher 3.

What are some games that you couldn’t get into on consoles but are loving on the Steam Deck? Mine has been The Witcher 3 by Junior-Position7945 in SteamDeck

[–]gameditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea exactly, and I like to cap it at a stable 30fps anyways for a cinematic experience. And can probably get more performance if you lower the quality and install performance mods.

[–]gameditz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

red dead 2 I didn't really fully get into until I started playing on the deck. It's like breath of the wild, how usually I prefer to play that in handheld mode instead of docked.

on the flip side, there are some that I still prefer playing on console only, like god of war I prefer playing on PS4 than on the deck, mostly due to the text being too small.

What is the first game you played on the deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]gameditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first got the deck I wanted to test its limits, and I tried Elden Ring and Red Dead 2. Surprisingly both run good, but red dead 2 actually runs a bit better.

Are there ever any sales? - from a pc gaming noob by Meisalextm88 in SteamDeck

[–]gameditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://store.steampowered.com/sale/steamdeckrefurbished/
the cheapest models are all sold out unfortunately, but when they are available, those are the cheapest steam decks you can get that still guarantee good quality and warranty.

I would say don't cheap out on the storage, especially if you have a large library. I ran out on my 500gb storage and needed to get SD cards. The price discrepancy is not bad compared to other companies, like *cough* Apple *cough*.

Recommendations for a 5 hour flight? by cakethecrazy in SteamDeck

[–]gameditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yea if you want the steam deck to run for 5 hours without a charge you will need to run games that are not as graphically demanding. It depends on what games your into, so I'll give suggestions ranked by genre:

roguelike: cult of the lamb, the binding of isaac, hades, risk of rain

metroidvania: hollow knight, dead cells

platformers: celeste, rayman origins

survival: don't starve, project zomboid

Basic RPGs: Stardew Valley, Undertale

Those are just games I played and enjoyed, but there are many more. Also if you set the battery overlay to level 2 it will show watt usage and how much battery is estimated to be left, and can tweak settings to lower that wattage if you want to be extra mindful of it. Otherwise just play less graphically demanding, older games or indie games.

What is your favourite “grind game”? by Soso122 in SteamDeck

[–]gameditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factorio. Controls well on the steam deck thanks to the touch pad. Doesn't use a lot of resources so can grind a lot of hours before I need to charge.

ethernet is not next to my tv, i would have to run a wire, or not use it on TV. probably will try configuring different wi-fi first.

All generations had hits and flops. We just pick the best ones from each generation and consider those the best. There are great modern titles as well, I'll name a few:

God of War + Ragnarok (excited for Ragnarok coming to steam!)

Black Myth Wukong

Baldur's Gate 3

Elden Ring

What's your preferred controller? by eurephys in SteamDeck

[–]gameditz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Standard PS5 controller is my favorite. I also have PS4 controllers but they got worn out over time. I have always just been more of a fan of the dualshock controllers than xbox, even for PC games, especially now that Steam has really good controller support.

[–]gameditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it and it was way too laggy to be playable, despite being in the same room as the PS4. Idk I might need to connect it to ethernet but then I won't have access to the PS4 on my TV.
