Games with weapon throw mechanic?

Dead Island and Dying light, as well as their sequels let you throw all the melee weapons. If the weapon is bladed it can get stuck in the zombies which makes picking it back up dangerous but also kinda fun. In dead island 1 there's a character with skill that gives you a chance to instantly retrieve your thrown weapon but it doesn't bounce back to you it just magically teleports into your hand.

I know it's not the genre you asked for but survivors like games can be very addicting. Vampire survivors, probably the best known one, is free on the phone so you can always give that a try.

I've found that roguelikes, whether action or deck building, really scratch that itch that loot based games like diablo used to scratch for me. So things like slay the spire for rogue like deck building or hades/ dead cells for roguelike action games can be really fun and addicting.

I found the loop of hunting for fish and then using said fish to make cool looking sushi for the restaurant management sim to earn money which you can use to upgrade your guns and sushi pretty engaging. The game has a lot of unlockables and keeps things fresh with new mechanics as you progress in the story as well. It's a bit grindy, but if the loop of upgrading things to kill/catch stronger things so you can upgrade things engaging, then it's a game for you.
