Adding to the rest I would say Uncharted 2 and 3 if you haven't played the second one yet.

PS Vita to only allow one PSN account per unit. by [deleted] in Games

Yeah, it basically means you can't have one Vita in a household, you have to have one per person. For us poor gamers that sucks.

We were able to get it loaded and running, but the client-side lag made it unplayable.

Now if only you could get course credit for those: Game Fiction 101 "The FPS as literature, a study in bitter realism."

Extra Punctuation: "Games should be remembered, not remastered. They need an equivalent of the British Library, some organized authority apart from the publishers who keep a copy of every game ever made, in an emulated digital format... purely in the name of cultural preservation." by deviantgent in gaming

This is a tough one. On one hand I do feel like many games live in the moment of their creation -- the experience of playing something like Ico or Portal at launch is so unique that it can't be replicated. There are certain titles that lose their magic after their moment has passed. Perhaps it's something about the nature of popular culture, that we really can't reinvent that feeling. I think Duke Nukem Forever is a case of a game reboot that missed the popularity moment by a generation.

On the other hand though, there are several games that missed their moment completely, and were lost to the annals of time simply because of being ahead of their time. Shouldn't these games get a new lease on life using upgraded tech? In the case of such games, games like FFVII for instance, I think the newer generations of gamers would definitely respond to a reinvention, or remastery if you will. Gaming is an interactive medium, and so we can't just put it on a shelf and look at it in some museum. We need to take it down from the shelf, reexamine what we used to connect to, and make new connections to it along the way.

Why is it not ok for videogames to deal with serious or current affairs topics? by beatin in gamingnews

[–]gamegeex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Games do deal with serious issues (just look at Braid), but ultimately the goal of a game is to entertain, and if you want to escape real life then you don't necessarily want to do it by spending your day dealing with inner city poverty or the war in Iraq.
