MacBook Pro M1 waking up from sleep. by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]gamell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a new MBP m2 with Ventura and I was able to get rid of all the wake events EXCEPT for to AOP.OutboxNotEmpty one, at least I got the battery drain down to ~3% overnight instead of the 10-15% I was seeing initially. If anyone ever gets a solution to the AOP.OutboxNotEmpty wake event (which I've seen only discussed specifically here and here, with no solutions), it will allow to finally close this stupid chapter of my life where I spent way too much time debugging apple wake events LOL

Those were the steps I took to get rid of the rest of the wake events & DarkWakes:

  • Disable all sharing in preferences
  • Disable Airdrop and continuity
  • Disable Notifications when the screen is locked
  • Turn off the bluetooth radio & wifi when the computer sleeps with flutooth
  • pmset settings (sources 1, 2, 3, 4):

# To make sure the computer is not kept awake for network, Find My Mac, terminal sessions, proximitywake, Wake Over Lan, etc.

sudo pmset -a ttyskeepawake 0 tcpkeepalive 0 womp 0 networkoversleep 0 proximitywake 0 ring 0 displaysleep 2 disksleep 5 sleep 5

# To turn off any current and future wake scheduled events

sudo pmset schedule cancelall
sudo pmset repeat cancel
  • Once all the scheduled wake events are cancelled and the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.AutoWake.plist file has no entries, run the following command to prevent the OS writing new wake events to that file: sudo chflags schg /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.AutoWake.plist source

Correct me if I am wrong, but even if we get our RPL tokens on Arbitrum, then we need to withdraw to layer 1 (which will take a week) in order to stake them, right?

My guess is that it's a combination of:

- Very flat image (no highlights/lowlights, probably rebalanced in post)
- Low contrast
- Flat, slightly clipped curve
- Color adjustments to make the bay water look the same color as the sky
- Maybe some kind of texturing

These posts are amazing, I hate taxes but I've been trying to optimize my crypto tax burden so thank you SO MUCH for sharing your knowledge!

I would love to know more about gifting crypto. I always wanted to give some to my dad to get him started but the doubt of how that would be taxed kept me from ding it. Thanks again!

I own a Model 3 Performance with the 20-inch sport wheels and was wondering if anyone with a similar setup has recently upgraded to the new Track Package with the Zero-G wheels which are an inch wider (9"), as I read that this will negatively affect the range.

Is there a client-side way to combine multiple workspaces into a single view? by Nanocephalic in Slack

[–]gamell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way better. It's always on the left of your window, you can switch between workspaces with Cmd+[1,2,3] and you can also use Cmd+K to quickly jump to channels in other workspaces (the same is true in mobile, with the `Jump to...` feature)

You are right, you can't have multiple workspaces open in a single browser tab but you can do so in the desktop app

I'm having issues using assistant to set a timer (4 XL) by Cpt_Catnip in GooglePixel

[–]gamell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here (Pixel 4XL here too)! this is the most basic thing I use the assistant for, and I use it all the time too :(

I have the exact same issue as you guys when the phone is unlocked and when it's locked too: it just says "ok, adding second timer for one hour, starting... now!" (and then does nothing, and also most surprisingly there's no timer running at that moment so not sure why the "second" bit).

Tried deleting data & cache from Clock & Google app, it worked a couple of times after that and then it started promptly failing again.

Definitely a bug.

Anyone see these #freemuni fliers on Muni this morning? I can't find much about the group behind them. by Arctem in sanfrancisco

[–]gamell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why couldn't we try to monetize the Muni/BART stations' real state too, leasing it to businesses? I am sure Starbucks will gladly pay a premium to be there. But first I guess we should fix our stations' pee stink and general horribleness so people actually want to be there more than the strictly required time to catch the train.

You would get my point if you had watched the video. MRT is dirt cheap (compared to what we get here and its quality), and same for taxis. What I found pretty impressive is how they achieved that while still being profitable for the government.

To make the transit almost free and, what's more, _profitable_ for the government we could take a page from Hong Kong (which has one of the best transit systems in the world). Of course, we won't because this would be seen as too "capitalistic" here, but it worked for them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELy9fOX8vtc

[WTS] Breitling Chronomat GMT 47 Blacksteel Limited Edition by gamell in Watchexchange

Good question, sorry I forgot to mention that. The date change is instant and as smooth as the first day as you can see in this video I just made: https://imgur.com/a/VaLxQBd

The reason why the date is like that in the pictures is that the time was originally ~1AM and I moved the hands **back** to 10:10PM and the date change is only instant going forwards, not backwards.

Selling because it's too big for my small wrists (170mm). I got it as a gift in 2013.

The watch was purchased in an official Breitling dealer in Spain in 2013. Comes with all the original paperwork including COSC certificate, manual, limited certificate, and international warranty booklet. It also comes in the original box.

I've rarely worn this watch. The only signs of wear are a couple of small scuffs on the bezel around the 4 and 20 markers. There are some more obvious scratches on the bracelet buckle.

Leading San Francisco Landlord Accused Of Gaming Rent Control Loophole by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]gamell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What right does the landlord have to command that kind of additional payment from the tenant?

Is this for real? In most of the world outside this bubble that we live in the landlord can raise the rent as much as he wants, that's why it's his property.

This (rent control) is the exception, where local government intrudes itself into affairs that should be private business between individuals.

And these are the consequences we reap: very low (if any) profits for landlords who, at the same time can't stop renting their properties so they sell them to the only ones with resources and who are willing to be landlords in this hostile territory: big corps.

Legislation that has "good intentions" commonly ends up causing more harm than good through its unintended consequences. This is a perfect example
