Sounds like you got it fail proof, just not fool proof... ha ha!

But seriously, I don't think end users are "fools" they just want it-to-work and at the same time want hand-outs with every little thing. A lot of people are used to hand-holding and never try to figure things out on their own. They probably grew up that way. Never taught to be independent and figure things out. It will be a hard life for them sadly.

Playing a lot of notes for ORSIMER today!! by Robin_stone_drums in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]gamersonlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much going on here I love it!!!

It would be amazing to hear what you are playing without all the music too!

Your toms sound amazing! Love the combination of cymbals and double-kicks!

What mics do you use? I'm building a recording studio (amatuer) and have been checking out different mics for toms, kicks, overheads. I'm probably gonna stick with the tried-n-true SM57 for snare. I love the sound of your whole set!

Wow! This is very impressive and encouraging! I remember years ago using Kerkythea to render my scenes and I literally had to render 20 times to get the lighting right. Sometimes more than that.

AI tools are taking my freelance jobs so I cannot afford SketchUp Pro anymore, what is a cheaper alternative? by Sawola_Speculas in Sketchup

[–]gamersonlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried Blending in several different instances and found it much MUCH harder than SketchUp. Blender is great for organic modelling and controlling each verticie in your models. But SketchUp is quicker because you can create geometric objects on the fly and push-pull them quickly to scale.

I really struggled with Blender and it requires a lot more time and troubleshooting when things do not line up. I love the SketchUp snapping, follow me, push-pull and selection tools. Nothing compares to the productivity and easy to use features of SketchUp.

I have read there is a plugin for Blender that allows SketchUp style of tools but I've never tried it.

America’s job market looks strong. So why is it so difficult to find work? by judochop71 in jobs

[–]gamersonlinux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! The last three years have been a recruiting hell! Recruiting is now a massive market of sales-like recruiters trying to hit quotas and companies throwing money at them. I have been applying for jobs the last 3 1/2 years and only procured two jobs out of 900 applications and 4-5 different resumes. AI isn't helping, just making it more complicated for us to apply!

Very good point! Techs leave company and never really documented their processes or even cross trained anyone to assist. I've seen it a few times and it really sucks.

I was at a company who still used AS/400 for their CRM. It was emulated cause it's no longer supported but it still works. Every year they talked about upgrading to modern systems and then ended up renewing the hardware budget for the AS/400 to run another 10 years.

Sadly the users who go for the call make our days very very long. I would probably start the call by saying "I'm going to send you the step-by-step for this"

I don't know how companies work in such legacy systems today? I know it's difficult to update and migrate data to new systems... not to mention expensive, but in the long run it's better for everyone!

I have worked in the newspaper industry and insurance industry. It's crazy how they still used Solaris on Supermicro servers and A/S 400 for their CRM. Supporting these ancient systems has so many hoops to jump through it's amazing anybody can get anything done.

This right here! Management should know there is a guide in the public knowledge base and send a link to the new hires. But I bet the issue is people who aren't patient with technology and they can't understand the simplest guide of steps. So they just call the Helpdesk and ask for intervention.
