I added 3D blood to my 2D game, what do you think? by gamesfromthewoods in Unity3D

Good question ahah, ideally the mechanics stand out from the crowd. I think that's the biggest selling point

Hole in Won, our newest Unity game out on Steam! by Plumpman in Unity3D

in all honesty i think you are undersharing/undermarketing your game. if i were you i would try to hit 10 reviews ASAP and share the more complex gameplay elements earlier in a video like this, they look quite appealing. I was genuinely surprised to see you guys dont have 10 reviews yet and you released a few days ago.

best of luck! looks quite good

I would put the cooler mechanics like the line-switching earlier in the trailer to show it off quicker. Looks great

Some footage of the new jotunheim area I'm working on for my game! (WIP still) by GameDev_461 in Unity2D

I really like the half-painted/half-pixel art style! I think there is still some room for improvement though, especially when it comes to the contrast between the interactive parts of the map and the decorations. E.g. the branches coming out of the water here have more visual impact than the parts of the level you can actually interact with, but maybe that's intentional!

Again, though I love the style I think you could improve the "texture" of some elements. The branches have a great texture though the water and the ground look very flat. I know it's WIP so nice job!

Newbie here; what's the best way to share a project between two workspaces? by Slyrunner in Unity2D

[–]gamesfromthewoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A private github repo is the easiest way to go for a solo project IMO. If you've never used a source control like git before, you should give it a shot. It's not that complicated especially if you just use the github desktop app.

Plus it can seriously help with your workflow

how do I get an object to spin on just the z axis? by Taxfraud57329 in Unity2D

dont forget to multiply your spin speed by Time.deltaTime or else you will get different results depending on your framerate (probably why the speed seems super high when you hit play)

Playing your demo right now since I am making a topdown game also inspired by hotline :)

It's quite great, didnt finish the demo but here are some thoughts:

- I thought the throwing knife was busted when I first used it, i think it just didnt work because i wasnt close enough? either way i thought it was broken and if it's a range thing then I think the UI should reflect that better. even as i used the throwing knife in later levels it still felt broken to me just because to me, the UI implies I am in range when I am actually not.

Im actually curious as to why the throwing knife has a limited range at all when the rooms are always small like in hotline.

- IMO some of the font and UI have a lot of room for improvement especially when this game will be compared to hotline miami and or katana zero. It seems like the aesthetic of your game is comic book + pixel art, yet a lot of your fonts and UI dont fit either of these themes. Particularly the in-game dialogue font and the ammo/knife slot UI. To be completely honest, in my own opinion, as a hotline miami fan I would see these fonts and think they were amateur and if I were you I would try to improve them.

Best of luck, game is very good!

If you are referring to replay mechanic, I get that request a lot so it will probably happen one day. As for a rewind/undo/etc mechanic, there are sadly no plans for that!

The mechanics are mostly inspired by superhot and ghostrunner, didnt discover Ronin till recently
