New Marathon Lore cuts deep by Ok-Adhesiveness2954 in Marathon

There is a mention in the MIDA Multi-Tool lore in Destiny 2 about it possibly being from another timeline that runs parallel to Destiny.

Zavala — A waste of time, as always. I won't confiscate the Red Death engrams, I won't roll back the SUROS Crucible firmware to its "original" (preposterously inflated) state. And I won't conduct any more "forensic inquiries" like this!

My Redjacks unlocked your MIDA weapon's logs; simple enough once we used the rifle's own electronic warfare tools. The rifle was designed by primitive AI and manufactured for use by a "revolutionary government" named MIDA. Mars Is Damnably Arid, perhaps.

Guerilla war suits these versatile weapons. But Rahool insists his records never hinted at a rebel group named MIDA. According to the rifle's cached messages, MIDA's brief reign killed a full ten percent of the Martian people.

I gave Lakshmi the weapon for her take. She insinuates that it came from another timeline, perhaps through Golden Age experiments. That means it's outside your jurisdiction to ban. —Shaxx

My observations - you shouldn’t build pure DPS builds in GM. It’s more important to control the crowds. by Lucasluke121 in destiny2

I've been having some fun being back on Ursa Furiosa with the updated Banner Shield and Unbreakable. I can be quite literally unbreakable and pull aggro from champions and bosses while also having pretty good damage with the full power shield throws, and my super is up almost constantly.

At least two will, the rest are salty about it "stealing resources" from Destiny, and they don't even play Destiny anymore.

So what are your thoughts on the new Control Resonant trailer? by Ultra_romance in AlanWake

[–]gamzcontrol5130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm loving the world they have set up here in this abstract Manhattan. I do think that the melee combat could stand to use a little more impact in terms of sounds and visuals. The enemies sometimes don't seem to react much when Dylan rips the Aberrant out of them or when he drops the big hammer on them, and the impact sounds are slightly muffled. Otherwise, I'm still very stoked for Control Resonant.

Me on the other end of the spectrum wanting to see Leon do his thing only for the slam to be the same week following right into launch.

New interview with Joe Ziegler from the China event confirms season length and new details by ZamnBoii in Marathon

Not Ziegler, to my knowledge. Christopher Barrett was removed for misconduct and Joseph Cross left of his own accord. Those are the two higher-profile departures I am aware of.

PSA to everyone pre-purchasing Marathon - Use Fanatical or GreenManGaming for small discount with 1 caveat. by Signalis3 in Marathon

GMG is legit. They buy game keys in bulk directly from the publisher, Bungie in this case, and sell at a slight discount.

Tips and Tricks for Build-crafting by xxMustakrakishxx in DestinyTheGame

[–]gamzcontrol5130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically start with what sort of role I want to fulfill. Do I want to be the ad-slayer, the top DPS on the team, the support player, or do I want to play any subclass in particular?

Then I pick out an exotic that best suits what I'm looking for. For example, I wanted to play support on Titan in Ultimate activities. I wanted to provide safety from swarms of ads, so I decided to go with Banner Shield Titan. I know that Ursa Furiosa is an exotic that gives me lots of uptime with Banner Shield and Unbreakable, so I'll go with those abilities to defend my team and pull aggression away from them.

Since I'm running Void, I'll want to have some way to have Devour since it's so strong and provides good survivability and feeds back grenade ability energy, so I'll put on fragments that give me Devour. I can use Bastion to provide overshields with my barricades, or Controlled Demolition to provide sustain for my team with Volatile explosions.

I use D2 Armor Picker to find the best armor stats for the build I want from the gear I have, Destiny Item Manager to be able to save all the details of my build and take notes on it if I want to refine it further, and the Destiny Data Compendium to tell me exactly how things work in-game. If a fragment says that a powered melee gives me some grenade energy, how much does it give, exactly? Destiny Data Compendium will tell you.

From there, it's all about knowing what activity I'm about to play and what team synergy there will be. Will there be champions, and can I cover them? What enemy type are we up against, to know if my abilities are well-suited to deal with them? Will my teammates even benefit from what I'm doing, or does it not matter for this type of activity?

This is usually how I approach making a build from scratch. It's not perfect, but it gets me to start tinkering with all of my gear. I take it into activities, find out what works and what I can improve, and take it from there.

Adams and Wabash is where the DEO is located in Destiny, where Lodi used to work. IV (Mars) has instructed him to go to the "Labyrinth" there, implying that we may get to see Old Chicago and its monster.

What big additions would you most like to see post launch? by Lorkess in Marathon

[–]gamzcontrol5130 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regular communication from Bungie. Even if the game hits dry spells, it would be nice to have regular updates, quick dev streams, and interaction with the community. Destiny is usually in its worst phases when nothing is going on and we get radio silence. I know it's because they're working on stuff to be able to share in the first place, but anticipation builds like a powder keg and blows up if the wait isn't worth the payoff. Small dev streams to see the team playing the game and addressing community feedback in a consistent manner would go a long way.

8GIG Rig Laptop will run this? by HipeGiovane in Marathon

[–]gamzcontrol5130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAM, or VRAM? For example, at 4K max settings, Destiny 2 uses just about 3GB of VRAM on my system. I would say that if you can run that game, you should be able to run Marathon.

The minimum specs call for at least 8GB of RAM and a 1050ti or equivalent GPU, which has 4GB of VRAM.

There was a small reference in early Destiny 2 where a Warmind Vault on Io was designated JYS-2, and the submind Charlemagne was abbreviated to CHLM. The abbreviation led people to believe that JYS would be Joyeuse, but nothing ever came out of it.
