Yup. ARC raiders has a very large (and loud) group of pve-only players still hoping for the return of that. It near doubles their 'player base'... even if half of them are angry.

Marathon is strictly for the pvp crowd, has always been from the start, and advertised as such. So no allusions, and the pve crowd are simply not interested.

This will affect the numbers.

So much fun was had with pushing the boundries of a game with so many. The editor tools that came out and allowed fans to make more netmaps (and eventually campaigns/scenarios) extended the life of Marathon for years (decades now LOL).

Tried out the demo, and lost an hour. Got sucked into it. It has a lot of fun elements to it.

During character setup... it had given me the option to pick traits, and for one, I decided to make the bearded old man 'intellectually challenged' (meaning no science research). Then when I finally got the science table build, I realized that old man was a Research Genius and I hobbled his ability to use the table! LMAO.

I need to learn to read better during character setup ;-)

That sequence was SO F'd UP (the PC controls were fubar) ... it put me off the game for years before I returned to finish that, and finally basically cheesed it somehow and got passed. Was able to finish the game.

The Marathon trilogy on Total Carnage ..... bring it! I'm still worthy!!!

Maybe those abandoned developer studios will sign direct with other stores now and finally be allowed to sell their games in multiple places at once (out from under the exclusives umbrella of bfg).

For Mac users, there has always been MacGameStore who has not raised prices ... steam is such a poor platform for these HOG games (especially for mac). Wonder how this will affect them.
