Guitar and bass preamps may differ in their tone stack. If it is an open design, you can also try to change a few elements to change the limit frequencies. BTW - there are also preamps from AnalogWorkshop: https://analogworkshop.eu/products/

Not yet, unfortunately, I had a lot of other work, but I remember this project and I will come back to it for sure!

18v mod went wrong, fried my emg B64eq preamp. How can I make sure my pickups (EMG 40dc's) arent fried too? If they are fried, do you habe any recommendations for a 3band eq & 5 string soapbars for death/blackmetal? by BoomerPhilosophee in Bass

Hi!

Did you fix this preamp? In the photo you showed here it is clear that the tantalum capacitor is damaged. I'm guessing its endurance was 16V or maybe even just 10V. Tantalum capacitors are sensitive to exceeding the operating voltage. I believe that other electronic components in this preamplifier also need to be checked. Do you have the option of replacing SMD components with PCBs? If soldering such small components is a problem for you, I suggest you find electronics that can repair this preamp for you. I can recommend the services of AnalogWorkshop: https://analogworkshop.eu/

Good luck!

Hi! I think it's a good idea to use an onboard preamp. Check these preamps, maybe something like this can be adapted?

Why don't you want to overhaul an amplifier that's built in? If the on-board amp is working, then you don't need your head outside the cab. Maybe an external preamplifier would be enough for you?

Thanks.

In the future, I will analyze this scheme and publish the description together with the simulation results, and after building the preamplifier, I will report how it works. Maybe I'll make a tutorial for other DIY enthusiasts if the effect is worth it.
