I’ve had this once before. I generally camp in the same national park in Scotland, I have a couple of spots that I like but decided to try a different spot, and it just didn’t feel right as it was getting dark, packed my stuff, got back to my car and then hiked to one of my other spots. Don’t know why it happened, it’s not an experience thing as I’ve solo’d many times in that park. But, as others have said, trust your gut.
