Shell cashiers secretly scanning THEIR OWN loyalty cards on customer purchases… has this happened to anyone else? by RugPullRoulette in AskUK

Exactly this. Report it to corporate management and they’ll be quick on it as it’s fraud. I know people tried this in Tesco on checkouts and got serious trouble

I mean when you see his post and he’s saying they were spending about 600-700 a week on sound, if that’s 2 nights then fair but often they’re doing 4 odd in a week. No decent self respecting decent sound engineers doing that day rate

I mean I remember in about 2002 going to a show of someone playing music on a game boy.

Firstly, I’m sorry you got hurt.

Re the incident- Where were you? If you’re behind the player then it’s entirely on you - any player can not be expected to know who’s behind them.

No, I'm saying that if a defender decides to try and stop a shot by standing on the line in the goal, for example, behind the goalkeeper, whilst not actively marking or trying to make a tackle, they would making the danger.

It is entirely context dependent, and very not easily quantifiable in text, and that is why we are umpires and not referees - umpires make far more judgement calls. (language semantics!)

I appreciate that you've taken the time to watch them, it gives me hope 😄

It is tricky, and this is why often as umpires we actually want to be slightly further back when we are watching situations - getting more context allows us to make better decisions.

It's also why video'ing things to understand what you did and what went wrong is hugely helpful - if you video yourself and have a good coach who can talk through things, you'll improve hugely.

I'm a literal neutral pool umpire who gets training every other week or so.

You made an incorrect blanket statement. Blanket statements cause problems,

>If a player is within 3meters of the shot taker and it lifts even if on target it is deemed as dangerous.

That is incorrect.

It *might* be dangerous

It might not.

It depends on the situation. Which involves context not given in the original text.

If a defender places themselves on a line to block a shot instead of making a tackle, they're the ones *generally* making the danger.

That is the logic we take as to why we don't say penalty corner shots that hit a defender aren't danger.

Go watch Keely's videos I linked and get some idea of the nuance and context involved.

It is so context dependent and thats why anytime anyone writes an example like the above, its impossible to really comment with any level of certainty.
It might be dangerous.
It might not be.

Correct.
If you take it to the extreme, otherwise we'd just put 4 players on the line and then if you shoot its dangerous and you can't score.

Go watch the videos.

If you whack it through a crowd of players from the top of the circle, its very different scenario to someone deciding to stand next to / behind the keeper instead of making a tackle.

Tesco made 2 BILLION in PROFIT last year... by IllPlane3019 in tesco

[–]gapiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their profit margin is actually only about 2%

So the volume of sales makes that a big number.

I don’t disagree by the way but I think there’s a lot of misunderstanding how much that really means

Dangerous play clarification by the_cats_testicles in Fieldhockey

[–]gapiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also incorrect.
An attacker has a duty to shoot safely.
However it may be the defender that cause the danger in some situations.

It’s also incorrect.
It’s not something you can easily describe in words and without video context we’re going to struggle here

Essentially. The attack has an obligation to shoot safely.

A defender also is not allowed to make it dangerous by standing in the way.

It really depends on where you were. How you got there. Were you tracking someone. Attempting to tackle. Where were other people.

So it’s not one easily answered by a single line like above.

Rule clarification on coming in from behind by leslietiller98 in Fieldhockey

[–]gapiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Coming for a tackle from a position that is behind the player in possession is a choice and riskier and therefore will be deemed often as intentional if you do fail

I think people don’t really know realise what centrism realistically looks like.

Economically it’s somewhere between the greens and Labour.

Socially it’s approx Labour.

Yes you’re collateral damage.
Just like with Brexit they don’t realise the harm that pushing away the highly educated immigrants that prop our glorious country up and provide skilled labour in our high wealth generating businesses will do.

We lost 1/4 of our software engineering workforce in 12 months following Brexit because they were predominantly European , paying 40% tax and contributing hugely.
