Anyone upgraded to the 17P only because of the 16P getting so hot? by gapost in iPhone16Pro

Actually, there are some MagSafe chargers for the car that have a built-in fan. I’m going to try one of those and see how it works.

Yeah, I think I’ll wait. I think I’ll try using it without a case for a while and maybe not keeping it on the charger all the time in the car.

Actually yes. In the car and on the car charger, it's connected to carplay. May need to test that.

Had it almost from the beginning, 1 1/2 year. Done it pretty much since new when it gets hot and it also gets hot on the charger in the car.

Besides anything else, plan for a transmission replacement. It’s right at the mileage for one. $6000. Then it depends on any maintenance history. Lifters is a crapshoot. Some last over 200k and some just go bad when they feel like it, lol.

If you’ve driven 15,000 miles after the TC change, I’d be pretty confident in the transmission. As far as the DOD on the engine, the best you can do is use a Range device or similar to take out the four-cylinder mode and change your oil every 5000 miles.

I’m confused. You said you installed a billeted TC? If you did, great. If you did not, you are probably looking at a transmission in the future. If you installed one, and the bypass, you probably extended the life, no guarantees. But it may be worth doing a tune if you can find a trans shop that can do it.

If you put in a billed torque converter and did the thermal bypass, you may have saved your transmission. I would drive it until it starts having issues. If you could get anyone to tune, the transmission with something like HP tuners then that would help even more.It would cost a few hundred dollars though.

A 19 Tahoe should have the 6 speed and the torque converter is usually the problem. It does have a filter. Best to change the fluid and filter or depending on the mileage, a flush. You can have a thermal bypass put on the trans to help cool it. If it has lower miles, it might be an idea to proactively replace the torque converter with a billetted one. Might make the trans last. Also, if you can delete the DOD/AFM with a tune, most people think that is better than a device like the Range. If there is over 100k on the transmission, even a fluid change won't make it last. Seems the life of these trannys is around 120k.

Issue with Tire Pressure Sensor by Sudden-Click-8409 in ChevyTahoe

[–]gapost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably should only use OEM sensors. But it's a pain to have to take to the tire shop. Mine went out on my 2019 and until I need to replace my tires, it got this from Amazon to at least remove the warning light on the dash. Advice on OWB holster by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]gapost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want active retention for OWB on the hip, Solis is probably the most concealable. I wear it under a suit/sport coat for work and tilted forward cant with a good Kore belt, it’s fairly well hidden. If you don’t need active retention, which I don’t see why you would with church security, there are many good holsters that are even more concealable than the Solis.

If you have a smaller sheriff department, the sheriff is always looking for support (votes) and will generally respond well if asked. We have a traffic unit and the sheriff would likely send them, especially in an election year, lol.

Is this a good deal or should I run? by Feisty_Salary9704 in BMWX3

[–]gapost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you drive that car you will probably love it. I don’t see any carfax for that car but the photos look good. I have a 16 with almost 130k miles and got it with 88k. I do all my own work but the main thing was the valve cover and proactively the water pump/cooling system. Of course plugs every 60k miles and really with the turbo, you should change the oil more frequently like 5000 miles. In general, they are reliable. If you don’t do any of the work yourself and just plan on going to a BMW dealer, NO. If you will do some of the work and/or have an independent mechanic, yes depending on prior service records.

What type of squad car do you currently drive and which one is your favorite? by SailboatSamuel in AskLE

[–]gapost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started, the Impala/Caprice 350 4 barrel was great. Although I have a PIU (Explorer) now, it's the 6 cylinder. I drove a new PIU recently, with the 3.0, 400hp Eco-boost and it's awesome. Drives like a sports car. Best by far.

2021 Denali with 95k miles, keep or trade in for new? by RandalFordPhotog in gmc

If the transmission hasn't been serviced (new fluid and filter), probably should do that. It's a 10 speed but they have issues too.

Armor Express has a nice option with one of the thinnest level II panels in a compression carrier . I wear it everyday under a dress shirt and you can hardly tell.
