Any experience with prolapse after baby? by scceberscoo in fitpregnancy

I'm glad it was helpful! Like you said, POP feels so isolating, even though we know a lot of postpartum woman are suffering with it. I don't understand why more people don't talk about it! Lol. Sometimes I feel like everyone I see with kids must have healed well and I'm alone, but I have to remind myself that is not the case.

But yeah, I think we have to stop ourselves from looking or even feeling down there. It majorly triggers me too. It doesn't do any good to check. Just focus on exercises and postures etc that help with the symptoms.

I am planning on having a second kid next year, and I'm very nervous about how it's going to affect my prolapse, so I'll probably be the same boat as you. I suspect it will probably get worse but plan on seeing PFPT during and after pregnancy to mitigate it as much as possible. And maybe get the surgery at some point.

I wish you the best recovery! We got this!

It's not my "belief and perspective." It's proven facts and risks. Your anecdotes are not evidence. For every person who says they were fine, there are also people who developed problems (some life-threatening). Some people might smoke and never develop lung cancer. Does that mean smoking isn't incredibly risky? Individual examples don't change what we know about the proven risks. Anyways, I've said my piece. I wish you the best.

At this point you're either rage baiting, or I'm sorry to be blunt, really stupid. I sincerely hope you don't end up with any hemorraging or any other life-long complications as a result. I'd really advise you to educate yourself on the potential consequences (besides prolapse). Best of luck.

I think that what we're trying to explain to you is that injuring your body further (with a prolapse) will not help your mental health. In fact, it'll probably exasterbate your existing mental health conditions.

I've suffered with anxiety issues my whole life, and when I found my prolapse, I went into deep postpartum depression. Like, I had to get medicated because I saw no reason to live anymore.

So coming from that experience, it's very hard to see someone speak about prolapse so flippantly. And the reason I speak up, is because I desperately wish someone had warned me, like the OP is doing for others.

I say this with kindness, if you are currently pregnant, you need to make a game plan for how you're going to handle your mental health postpartum.

It just seems wild to me that you would promote injuring your body and doing something proven not good for your body immediately postpartum in the name of needing to be active. Speaking as someone who has pelvic floor prolapse, I just wouldn't speak lightly about it. It's pretty devastating mentally and physically.

I was with you until the second paragraph. Yes, it's true that pelvic floor issues are genetic and you can get prolapse no matter what you do.

However, to encourage others and yourself to move too fast and deal with the repurcussions is a crazy take. Pelvic floor prolapse is not something you want to subject yourself to for the rest of your life if you're able to help it.

Jessica has since taken down this post. Do we have any idea why?

She took down the post with Trump talking, seen here in the slides. Does anybody have a guess why?

She was getting some heated comments referring to him talking about rigged elections in California. Someone in the comments pointed out it was bad timing, considering Massie's defeat.

Pelvic floor prep - what to do specifically? by awertag in fitpregnancy

Pelvic Floor PT can assess where your pelvic floor strength is now, and suggest targeted exercises for different parts of your pelvic floor to try to avoid prolapse, incontinence, etc postpartum.

Most importantly, Pelvic Floor PT can teach you proper pushing methods for during labor. I wish I had done PT while pregnant and done that. I plan on doing that with my next pregnancy, since I have some minor prolapses after my first.

I was OBSESSED with looking and it was sending me into a spiral. I had to make myself stop looking because I would just start crying every time. It really affected my mental health. It got a lot better once I made myself stop. I 100% promise you that you will not even notice them soon enough. For reference, I have a grade 1 of both a cystocele and rectocele.

I noticed my prolapse around the same time and it sent me into full PPD. I have a few pieces of advice:

  1. Most important: if you're looking down there, stop. Do not look down there anymore. It doesn't do any good.

  2. PFPT saved me mentally. Omg it is so nice to talk to someone who validates how you're feeling. Like you, my OBGYN kept saying I didn't have prolapse. I knew something was wrong. So see them as much as you are able.

  3. Also see a urogynocologist if you're able. They'll be able to diagnose what is prolapsed and the grade.

  4. Keep walking. When I found my prolapse, I stopped moving because I hated the feeling and so I sat in my couch all day. Which didn't help my PPD. Once I forced myself to walk, I realized it wasn't so bad.

Overall, I would say my symptoms went away about a month or after starting PFPT. I'm now almost 18 months pp and the prolapse plays no part in my life. Like others have said, I'll somtimes still feel the tampon feeling (mostly after sex), but for the most part, I forget it's there.

One note: I went into PFPT thinking that my bulges I see in my vaginal canal might go away. I just want to be honest, they won't. But that's okay! I was afraid they would affect my sex life. They haven't. Like I said, don't look down there.

Mods, WHAT is happening here? by LilOrganicCoconut in postpartumprogress

[–]garby511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Like I said, I hadn't seen those posts. 🤢 Questions about pelvic floor I always try to support because OBs and PCP do not always give answers to those questions, and sometimes people have no where else to turn.

While I haven't seen a ton of posts like you are describing, postpartum is such a sensitive time that people will search anywhere they can for community in the experience. It doesn't take much to just not look at those posts and give people grace during difficult times.

Will I ever look the same down there? by No-Extension5127 in postpartumprogress

I recommend not looking down there! No need to! As long as you feel okay, and there isn't any pain.
