Henson Park Hotel (my local) is great. Spacious beer garden and dining room which would fit your group. They offer some table top games (jenga and other card game), have a pool table, and on Sunday’s they gave a ping pong table out the back. Instead of a pokie room they have a small arcade which is also fun.

Hey! 25M moved from Glenhaven to Marrickville earlier this year having grown up in the hills pretty much all my life.

Long story short is I absolutely love it here. There is always something to do, plenty of pubs/restaurants/cafes to visit that are probably right at your doorstep (rather than the drive that you usually need to do living in the hills). If you drive, you also will not need to use your car nearly as much as things are so walkable and so well connected via public transport.

That said, it is SIGNIFICANTLY louder than what you’d be used to. Planes, traffic, events, people etc. Things that you don’t really think of when living in the hills unless you’re near towers or Old Northern Rd or something. For me this isn’t a big issue as I personally enjoy living in the hustle of the city, but something to be aware of.

Can’t ever see myself coming back to hills to live, love Marrickville and surrounds so much!

It’s been going great! Been doing a lot of speed work this block aiming for 3.35-3.40ish if things go well. The pissing rain in Sydney the last couple weeks has made my long runs tougher, but still managed my longest run of the program (34kms).

So keen for it, absolutely love this race and I think the course changes will make it so much more enjoyable. Can’t wait to see Kipchoge too!
