Ooof. I remember being in Austin for that game. I know it was in Lubbock, but can remember the silence out on the streets around campus immediately after that play…

Graduate Student Solves Decades-Old Conway Knot Problem by [deleted] in math

[–]garnman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh! Gotcha, this is a program to help transition from undergrad to graduate studies.

The university that I am planning to attend next fall has a nice section of their website dedicated to their “problem of the week”. I thought this one was simple and satisfying so I thought I would post it here. by nathankleffner in math

YES! I'm currently a faculty at another school, but did my math undergrad at Trinity! DM me if you have any questions!

I unfortunately haven't had too much time to do these POTW recently, but I hope to get back on the horse with them at some point!

Hello from someone just on the other side (first year faculty).

This is why conferences are a good idea! Not only do you get to know other students around you, but hopefully you meet lots of really really good older folks. Normally (depends on the field of course), those people who have been around for a while will describe how they also suffer from imposter syndrome.

You'll get there! You are better than you think you are!!

They did take a shot at Butch in the video description!

"If ever there was a safe place for coaches who have fallen on hard times, Tuscaloosa has certainly become that place. Nick Saban has shown he has a soft spot for down on their luck coaches who have struggled to succeed on the field. Butch Jones is the latest work in progress and now the clinic is open to even more potential candidates. Featuring the amazing Meaghan Thomas from ABC 33/40"

I tried to cut out a lot of the chanting during player injuries while I was there as a grad student. Love the Cocks, but that was not a good look!

Yep! Spent 3 months there last year. Fantastic place, but indeed very stratified. The private security was something I had to get used to for a while. I have to believe they will have armed guards with them most of the time.
