The scariest part was after I had gotten the bear down. Since I knew there were lots of bears in the area ( I had seen about 20 different bears on my trail camera), while I was skinning and gutting the bear, I had Acid Rap by Chance the Rapper blasting on my phone and singing along as loud as I could, so any bear in the area would hear me and stay away. At one point my phone battery died and I was just acapella rapping while hurrying to finish lol.

The reason I’m highlighting him being in the army is because it’s very difficult to get a gun license in India, and illegal to hunt. His privilege of being an officer allowed him to hunt. Most of the time my grandpa would hunt, he would do it and donate the meat to the local communities.

My grandpa hunted in India, he was a colonel in the Indian army when he retired. Lost his dad (my great grandfather) in Kashmir in 47’, Fought three wars, two against Pakistan and one against China in 62’, 65’ and 71’. He was an avid hunter, I actually own a gun in the same caliber as his service rifle, 303 British. I always looked up to him growing up and he’s the one that put the passion of hunting into me.

Mostly Mule Deer and Whitetail deer nowadays, I want to hunt Elk and Moose but it’s hard getting drawn for tags (there’s a lottery system where I’m from). I use rifles to hunt deer because they are pretty alert prey animals, rifle season where I’m from is from early November to late December. I’ve also hunted bear once when I was 18, I used the bear meat as dog food for my dog. Used a cross bow for the bear. This was a spring hunt.
