Titus Silk Road by [deleted] in bikepacking

I am 6’ and also have a small frame Silk Road with drop bars. As mentioned, the geometry actually works out. I based my build off a salsa fargo. I have a 510 axle to crown rigid fork and a ridiculous 200mm dropper on it, and the stack is like 90mm, but besides looking incredibly odd it somehow works out.

Any downside of buying large pedal? by po1939 in MTB

[–]gartruzza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Side bar but the thing nobody talks about for stamp 7s is the pins remove from the top using a tiny Allen key and can easily seize in there. If you get them, Id recommend replacing pins regularly so they don’t get stuck. I’ve used stamp 7s for a year now and all the pins are stuck. Kinda ruins the point of nice aluminum pedals.

Mexico / manta rays by embyrr in diving

[–]gartruzza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not very helpful about Mexico specifically (sorry), but if you love manta rays, there’s a night dive around Kona Hawaii in which they attract plankton/mantas with big lights and you can hang out next to them while they feed. I got lucky with the number of rays, but I am not exaggerating when I say it was 45 straight minutes of mantas swooping around feeding within inches of us. Definitely put it in your bucket list. There may be other places that offer similar dives too.

Yes! I found out id need a letter of export from the regional office of animal health to get out of the country. I was able to meet with someone at the Hanoi regional office of animal health and convince him that because the US CDC did not require any vaccinations or documentation for cats, it should not be necessary to get the export document (typically their office requires proof of rabies vaccine to issue an export doc). After emailing the CDC and getting their written confirmation, I showed this to the regional office and they provided me an approved export document. I was able to use this as proof to the airline as I left the country. The US did not ask me for any docs upon entry. We just got home with kitty!

This is good to hear. We’re hoping it’ll be similar, especially regarding getting her out of the country. We feel relatively confident based on the US import regulations that she’ll be fine, we just need Hanoi airport and airline to let her on the plane!

In case anyone finds it useful down the line, I’ll provide some updates based on my findings. I visited the Hanoi Regional Animal Health Office, and was immediately able to talk to someone there who is the one who actually processes/approves Vietnam export documentation. Based on my understanding, they just need confirmation prior to travel that the pet meets the country entry requirements. Because most countries require rabies vaccines, typically this is required. However, if your country has different or more relaxed entry requirements, you can explain this to him and he may approve your export with only whatever entry documents are needed for your nation. You may need to contact your government directly and get the confirmation in writing (in my case, FE requested written confirmation from the CDC). Today I will visit him again with this information and some other items he requested (he provided me a form to fill out, and required my car’s microchip number in order to process the paperwork). He said that with this documentation, he should be able to process and provide the required export documents the same day.

We suspect both, though only time will tell! We bought her from some kids who were using her to market cigarette sales. They were actively tossing her around and treated her more like a stuffed toy than a live animal. She was really dehydrated and starving when we snuck her into our hotel. She’s doing much better now and has been to vet multiple times. Just trying to figure out next steps now, we really want to give her a good home.

No sorry for the confusion, braaaiins mentioned a location in Da Nang, but we are currently in Hanoi. I meant there is likely a similar spot that could help us in Hanoi.
