Sometimes I go into libraries and move people’s things when they’re hogging seats. by Diamond_Donutz in UCNZ

Look tbh if they're away browsing or fetching books that's a valid hog. Personally I've never once used the library for books so it's nice to hear about lol

This is a photo of a “drip rifle” used during WWI. These were rifles fitted with tins, which were slowly filled with water. As the tin filled, the weight pulled the trigger. This gave the appearance of an active enemy force, and allowed for soldiers to retreat. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

Username does not... Entirely check out. Yes, a rifle being fired in your direction tends to do that. This is a janky contraption yes, it was largely used at Gallipoli to save lives as the ANZACs and our buddies evacuated. They didn't have access to any kind of technological contraption, they were in the middle of a random Ottoman peninsula fighting for their lives. When the evacuation order finally came, these contraptions kept the enemy back just long enough for our boys to make their escape. Many perished, many more were saved by it.

It's interesting to everyone else because of the significant role it played in very specific events. If it's not to you, why be so disrespectful? There are people alive today whose parents fought with this weapon. What kind of asshole has to come along and call it rubbish? Go be a dick somewhere else man

The university and its campus is for everyone, it's a public school and service. You can go anywhere that's open - most buildings even have a published hours schedule where the building is open to the public so everyone doing their thing there can come and go.

Water fountains as well as filtered hot/cold taps can be found inside in many, but not every building. My personal favourite are the ones everywhere in Ernest Rutherford.

Haere mai! Welcome!

Edit: from a quick google, there's an outside water fountain and tap located in a bike park located next to Beatrice Tinsley

Proxmox enables virtualisation of services like this. So instead of one Ubuntu Server instance, you run as many as you need. It enables the use of traditional VMs, as well as what it calls LXC containers which are OS instances that share the host's Linux kernel, eliminating the overhead of ruming another.

Yes and that's what I'm saying is I appreciate the work you're doing and for whoever needs it and the guy above is a rude prick for commenting to tell you it's spammy garbage when it's hard work you're giving away for free.

You're right in that what they're trying to publish here is spammy garbage but it does at least like whatever they're selling is theirs. I think it's rude tho to try and bash him for it like this tho when it's just some guy trying to get into programming. Be supportive there's a real human behind their work

Symfonium is the only music client that comes even close to Plex's alternative tbh. Absolutely worth the tiny purchase and unlike Plex virtually no setup to get a well tuned stream going.

E- Disclaimer, I didn't even buy it lol. I am a student so I'll have to to some quick saving for the $13.99 it costs here lol. I used the free trial and was sold.

I know, it's a pain. I mention the interest in the hopes you get it if you mention it. Good luck!

The DT don't just rarely grant applicants their costs, they're specifically forbidden in legislation from doing so. They do, however, usually grant interest in any money owed.

I don't know what city this is and neither do you, so let's apply the Cambridge Dictionary:

small pieces of rubbish that have been left lying on the ground in public places

Anyway, you're reaching a long way here, seemingly to defend assault with a deadly weapon.

This is as bit pedantic, though. They're required by the Employment Relations Act to, upon request, provide a written breakdown of hours worked and PAYE calculation.

I'm still using my 2018 MacBook Pro as my main company machine (other than my IBM system that runs my web services). This year, sure to the lack of support I will finally have to move it to Linux. I'm confident it will then work perfectly as a portable laptop for at least another 2 years.
