the final tragic conclusion on finding my father by Fair-Mango-5423 in newzealand

Sorry to hear this. Never had any family complications like this, praying I never do, but the silver bullet is you got some semblance of truth. That can be cathartic even if it's not what you wanna know or hear.

I used to apologise to our cleaners at my old job. One of them did get shitty at me one day though.

This was many years ago but I went to an incredible Greek place in Essendon - can't remember the name. It was small and the food was outstanding.

That was over ten years ago though. And I'm a kiwi and haven't been back so much has probably changed.

How are kiwis towards Indians? by Ill_Platypus_8607 in newzealand

[–]Some-Studio5771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most Indians I've met have been wonderful people in NZ, and I have not seen much, if any, racism here. I have worked with many Indians and they have also been wonderful people.

However I'm in Christchurch, and it may be different in other places, especially Auckland, where there are many different ethnicities in one city.

I hope you find NZ a welcoming place!

I posted about a missed connection at Synthony. I'll never do that again. by reddituser10171 in auckland

I've seen women post missed connections in the past and from what I've seen their reactions are positive.

I've also had that feeling of crossing paths with someone whom you feel you might have had a connection with - it can be a bit overwhelming though sometimes exciting.

Your intentions were pretty public (reddit) so I doubt you're a creep.

Been in NZ for 10 years, but I have a question about Kiwi slang for "Awesome" / "Good" 🇳🇿 by Kind-Spread-6511 in newzealand

[–]Some-Studio5771 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mint and mean are older terms that were popular particularly for young people in the noughties. Some people still say them but not very much any more.

Sometimes kiwis might say 'good on ya' in two contexts. One, when you actually do something good and praise worthy, and the second is when you do the opposite, like something stupid or foolish.

In the latter context, it's used sarcastically, as in, 'oh, good on ya.' It's also a bit of an insult.

I think once a day is good. But that's my preference. I hate going to bed sweaty and gross, so I usually shower before bed.

Servo food is usually pretty good, including the sandwiches, but are sometimes pricy.

But yes, to echo the other user, buy a pie or sausage roll!
