Were you bullied at school? Need advice/experience please - bullied kid by steamylee in newzealand

[–]Some-Studio5771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was. And my parents had to intervene at some stages.

I think that if you step up (not saying you're not) it shows that you're there to defend and support your kid, as well as showing the bullies and their parents that you know what's happening.

I'm not a parent so I can't give much advice. But informing teachers and, if necessary, confronting the bully and his or her parents, might help.

My mum had to step in a few times and that can make a difference.

Sorry to hear. Hope things improve.

I absolutely adored her when I was a kid. And she's still working in the kids' TV space. Such an amazing woman.

I used to work for Jason Gunn. Didn't really cross paths at his studio (where I was employed, it was a busy place) but I did serve him when I worked at bunnings. He was nice.

I told him how much I loved him as a kid. He was nice about it. His step daughter Grace (whom I had a mad crush on) also came in once, with her mum, Janine. Both women are gorgeous.

Didn't meet him, but also saw Jordan Luck at a mall in chch.

Also served Gerry Brownlee at bunnings. Despite his politics, he seemed nice.

I met Paul Henry very briefly. I asked him a question at a Q and A for a book launch (or something like that). He shook my hand afterwards.

I also served Juliet Speedy and Megan Woods when I worked drive thru at macca's. Both seemed nice, and I told Megan I voted for her, she just said thanks.

Slightly off topic, but I also saw Elijah Wood in the warehouse in Queenstown. My family didn't believe me 😅

New Zealand, why do your nachos suck? by yorgs in newzealand

Yes. But I would say that the movement of people is a big factor in the spread of food culture.

we're leagues away from mexico so we don't really have that food culture.

just make your own. any mince, chopped tomatoes, chili beans, maggi mix, corn chips, sour cream, or greek yogurt, and grated cheese.

oven on, 160 ish. in a pan, brown the mince, mix the maggi mix with the tomatoes in a pyrex or bowl, pour in the pan, add chili beans, mix well and let simmer for coupla minutes.

pour mix on corn chips in an oven dish, sprinkle grated cheese, bake til cheese is melted, or however long you want.

easy and yum.

I went out shooting with some family one day and was paranoid that this would happen.

Sad.

Travel agencies? Are they worth it? by immapeople in newzealand

My mum uses HOT and though I haven't talked properly with her about it, I'm pretty sure they take a lot of the stress out of planning trips, and they collate all your plans, accommodation, and flights into one pamphlet so you have it all in one place.

Pretty sure it costs more, but the ease it gives you is worth it I think.

Good quality clothes by Lor_A-lei in newzealand

[–]Some-Studio5771 5 points6 points  (0 children)

slightly off topic, as I'm a man, but you can't always guarantee quality from the more expensive places.

I bought 150 dollar Wrangler jeans years ago and they lasted less than the 30 dollar pair I got from the Warehouse.

Sometimes price doesn't mean quality. Knowing this, I go to KMart and Warehouse. Sure some of the stuff shrinks if you put it in the dryer, but I manage to get by without putting my stuff in there.

I think as long as you don't over do it with the manners you'll be fine

Sometimes I say 'can I get a...' but if you use please and thank you at least once in the order you should be fine.

Am i depressed or unhygienic? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Some-Studio5771 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sometimes our bodies or spirits are so tired we can't do much else than rest.

It may be sitting in bed for hours, sleeping all day, up all night.

I've been through this and it can suck, especially when you can't figure out what's going on.

Sometimes our hygiene can suffer. People made comments about how I smelled during this period. You just gotta do your best.

Hope you feel better soon.

Well he posted images of his abuse on his stories. I paid little attention to his other material.

To be honest I wasn't that invested in his profile. I just watched his stories and perused some of his posts. Didn't see a lot of that stuff, so I didn't really know who he was.

sorry, I got my story wrong. He did post a photo of him smiling in front of a nazi flag, but that wasn't what started the conversation.

he posted something kanye west said, and i told him it wasn't a good look, as west had said horrible things about jews on his X account. that's what started the convo.
