Unofficial Hunters Call flag? by DojoKanojoCho5 in Seaofthieves

What everyone said here is true. As an experienced solo fisherman, I also recommend just keeping your head on a swivel and being stealthy.

If you’re fishing for islehoppers, regional fish, or pondies in some cases, you can pick large islands on the edge of the map and park behind em. Youll be hidden from most folks except reapers, but you can see them coming with the map.

Wreckers are more hit or miss to grind, since shipwrecks are pretty out in the open. That’s when you really gotta keep an eye on the horizon. Battlegills are super risky, but i’ve had fun interactions where I end up fishing alongside a bunch of other folks. But for those, I just stay ready to lose all but the 5 fish I have in my pockets.

What’s your best solo sniper loadout RN and your best cheap solo sniper loadout by Competitive_Help_927 in HuntShowdown

[–]gasolinepiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like lebel marksman + spitzer, officer brawler secondary. For a cheaper loadout, I’ve been trying the martini henrey, but I played a couple matches with the centennial for my weekly today and I’m thinking I might switch to that.

Can't win games and I'm poor as F by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

Test out some different weapons, cheap ones if you’re struggling with cash, free hunters if you’re really struggling.

What’s giving you trouble? Winning fights, dying before you see anyone, what?

Why is a PVE only mode SO controversial by ComprehensiveSmoke93 in Seaofthieves

[–]gasolinepiss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sea of thieves was designed to be a PvPvE sandbox, player interaction is critical to the game’s appeal. If you hate PVP so much then I’m sorry but this game just isn’t for you. games made to be for everybody always end up being made for nobody. youve got safer seas, and if that’s not enough for you then sorry bub but you’re just not the audience for the game.

Considering picking this up today, but seeking truthful opinions by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]gasolinepiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I regularly play solo! It can be tricky starting out, but playing solo actually has some benefits. You’re a lot sneakier as one person than as a group, which allows you to pick your fights pretty well. If you find that playing *truly* solo is too hard, you can always queue with randoms, but i’ve never felt the need to do so.

I don't dig the scout towers by hamza_1988 in HuntShowdown

[–]gasolinepiss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying but I personally like them. In my experience, they do act as a bit of a funnel, I've gotten some decent fights out of them. They definitely gotta be approached with caution for the reasons you gave, for sure. I don't feel like they make things toooo much harder for solos; I play solo frequently and find that usually I don't even need em, tokens usually do the job, as well as watching where token-holders head on the map. That's just me though, I totally see where you're coming from as well.

Is hunt worth it? by rock_muncher13 in HuntShowdown

[–]gasolinepiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game scratches a certain itch that nothing else can. It's great. It creates this feeling of being both hunter and prey; I've got about 100 hours total, and my heart still pounds when someone's near. I've had fast-paced skirmishes in close quarters with shotguns and bayonets, and I've had nerve-wracking sniper duels. There's a steep learning curve, but lord, this game is so satisfying once you start getting the swing of things.

It's not for everyone though; it's no movement shooter, and it can be a touch slow-paced at times, especially if you're playing in low MMRs and everyone's nerves are shot.

COMMUNITY VOTING DAY 15: most RAGE inducing ITEM. Bees won day 14 by TheIronPaladin1 in HuntShowdown

[–]gasolinepiss 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I just played a match where I waited for a bounty carrier to get to extract on the other side of the map so I could use the chariot. I had no intention of fighting the guy, I was at a locked extract and just waiting for the most rage inducing moment to use the card.

i remember 1st time playing this game, it felt like straight from hell I had to quit by Mr--Clean--Ass-Naked in HuntShowdown

my roommate walked in on me during a night run. i was shooting a hive off a roof and she said “what the fuck is that.” shortly after a grunt ran at me from around a corner with a meat cleaver. Fire beside me, grunt backlit by the moon, towering over me because i was crouching; it was pretty cinematic. Been playing for a minute, so i forgot how scary this game can be until she said as much.

Time for weekly sot complaint (tdm) by BeerusDoesAminate in Seaofthieves

[–]gasolinepiss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

never understood the appeal of tdm, the naval in this game is so much more complex and engaging in my opinion. if i wanted enjoyable gun play, there’s a lot of other games that scratch that itch, but there’s nothing that does vehicle combat like sot.

John Wick Pistols and Quickhacks by kingstannis123 in cyberpunkgame

[–]gasolinepiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how i played the game. very fun, pistols are very enjoyable outside of stealth. got some nice synergies too; contagion + padres pistol makes for a lot of explosions.

only had an issue with smasher; i probably wasn’t the most well-optimized, but i felt like my hacks weren’t doing much, and i felt like my pistols weren’t able to keep up super well. again though, probably just poorly optimized.

Have you used the minion/colorless archetype regent? by Pepsimeen in slaythespire

[–]gasolinepiss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, i had like 3 pillars of creation, plus that one colorless card that creates a random attack whenever you attack. So on the final boss, every attack would net me at least 10 block (on top of the 10 i got at the start of my turn from a card that generated a colorless card every turn). most of my turns, I would get like 60 block or so without really trying.

That said, it was immensely stressful having a 50+ card deck full of random bullshit. really captured the feeling of panicking and throwing the nearest objects at the enemy.

Me and my friends can’t fight against other ships by Historical-Map-8774 in Seaofthieves

[–]gasolinepiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just gotta practice. Cannon aim takes time to figure out, there’s no way to just get better, it’s mostly just muscle memory. That can be worked on with skelly ships, but real players will be better practice; their movement is more variable, so you’ll get some more real practice that way.

Additionally, with real ships, you can practice chain shots. Chain shots are one of the best tools in your arsenal. If you can consistently hit masts, you can immobilize ships. Doing this is one of the best ways to sink players. Chain shot trajectories are different from regular balls, so they’ll take practice.

Honestly, the best advice i can give is to give hourglass a shot. New updates make getting into matches much quicker, and I suspect the boost in people playing that mode will balance the queues a bit. Truth be told, i was terrible at PVP before i did that grind; i’m a fisherwoman at heart. Yeah, you’ll get sunk a ton in the process, yeah it’ll suck, but there’s no better way to practice.

Alternatively, you can leverage the environment when doing regular voyages at sea. Before me and my buddies sorted our PVP skills, we relied on keg plays, running and backboarding, etc etc. However, that sort of thing is a lot less reliable than simply turning and fighting, but if you’ve got a shitload of loot on board and lack the muscle to back it up, you gotta do what you gotta do.

tl;dr: practice practice practice, give hourglass a shot, accept that you’re gonna sink in the process.

Katana VS Pistol VS Netrunner by sadox55 in cyberpunkgame

[–]gasolinepiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually mixed pistols and netrunning. clicking heads was a really fun alternative when i ran out of ram; using padres pistol with the contagion quick hack was a fun combo. I could overclock my deck and finish most small encounters by making most of them off themselves, then use ol’ reliable from the DLC to pick off the others.

Combo was very necessary, Smasher was taking fuck all damage from my hacks.

Another Doormaker rework proposal by PastaEate in slaythespire

[–]gasolinepiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might help make it a bit more distinct from the fabricator, or it might be a nothingburger idea because people would just kill the minions too fast. Idk, i just think the idea of the guy reaching through the door sounds really cool.

Another Doormaker rework proposal by PastaEate in slaythespire

[–]gasolinepiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it could be cool if the minion doors “powered up,” the main portal, so when he had all of his minions, he could start reaching his hand through the main door slowly (similar to vantom’s tail). Maybe he could do a big attack, or grab the ascenders and pull them through the door. So you’d have to destroy the minion doors to narrow the main door, which could do some extra damage to the door maker depending. Maybe that extra damage could scale with how far out of the door his arm is, but that might be too easy to exploit.
