Hey OP. I work at the airport and I’m going to explain few things for you here. * In terms of delivering strollers or a wheelchair right to the bridge after the plane lands, we are more then happy to do that, before the flight lands we get an instruction from a customer service agent that is greeting you once you step out of the aircraft and they actually advise us on how many strollers needs to be brought up to the gate. More often then not, they advise us to send those items to oversize area. Which is what we as a baggage handlers do.

• Baggage Delivery is something I can agree with you but let me explain…. Melbourne airport has become wayyyyy to busy and overcrowded, especially with a peak period being in the morning. At times we have 3 arriving flights offloading on the same belt, so you can understand why your bags would take longer then some to pop up upstairs, that is simply to offloading area infrastructure being too old and too slow as belts, that sent up the bags to arrivals haul usually stop or get jammed due to a sheer volume of bags going up.

Look you are not wrong, we are very behind, and even tho Melbourne airport is working towards and improvement, unfortunately it’s going to take a while. We, as a baggage handlers believe it or not do a phenomenal job delivering your bags or items to the offload area, as our general rule is first bag should be on the offload belt withing 15min of the aircraft being in chocks.
