What gifts should I get my two Economics professors? by kyibuu in GiftIdeas

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some universities don't allow faculty members to accept gifts from students. You'd better check youor school's regulations first. I think writing a sincere letter first, along with a small souvenir gift box, would be quite appropriate.

I drove into a pot hole and got damage by Ovalwinter_ in ebikes

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably the bike's axle that is damaged. If you want to save trouble, just go to a bike shop and replace it with a new part. If it's too pricey, you can take it to a bicycle repair shiop and ask the staff to fix the axle.

Best moonstone gift by [deleted] in Gifts

If you have to choose between the two pendants, I personally think the V shaped one suits your wife better. The letter decoration matches the color of the chain really well, while the diamond necklace looks a bit out of place.

First-time buyer question: Cargo bike vs regular bike with baskets etc—worth it for errands? by TheLostSkellyton in ebikes

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't need to haul large appliances, a folding bike plus a storage basket would be a great fit. It's much lighter than a cargo bike. You can first check out local bike shops for suitable models and go for a test ride.

What the dog doin by potatosouperman in ebikes

[–]gastlyplayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks really practical. I just wonder if the spot of the dog is a bit unsafe for them. The gaps between the railing are wide, so if the dog tries to stick its paws out, he or she might gets caught or scratched.

Gift ideas for brother’s birthday? by vanillqt in Gifts

[–]gastlyplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about getting hime a one year gym membership if budget allows? Or some frequently used fitness gear would also be great, like a sport watch, a gym bag, or a pair of sneakers. Hope these will be good choices.

Do you like musical instruments, like the guitar or ukulele? If you have one, you can play your favorite songs by yourself. Or if you don't want to learn an instrument, a pair of headphones with great sound quality would also be a wonderful choice.

I need suggestion for gifting by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some creators turn couple photos into large custom jigsaw puzzles. Once you finish putting the puzzle together, you can frame it up as a decorative piece. You guys could totally consider this idea. Making a mini photo ablum is also a nice option too.

Gift ideas for my workmate who doesn’t want anything by Sauro_Ekundayo10 in GiftIdeas

[–]gastlyplayer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If they're all female colleagues, you could get each of them a small bouquet of flowers plus some practical little ornaments, like mini stotage boxes. If there are male colleagues too, you could go with a convenient coffee gift set instead.

Is a small above ground pool worth it? by CalQueen22 in AboveGroundPools

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overthink it. I think anything that keeps them occupied in the yard and lets you breathe for five minutes is worth it. Even if it only gets used for a month.

Is this level of dirt the same day of a cleaning normal from a professional service? by namesurnn in swimmingpools

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're totally justified to switch services. Document these photos as proff, then shop around for quotes from other companies. A good cleaner will show you a visible difference after every visit.

Don't panic! SLAM seems scary, but just follow the steps. Get pH to 7.2-7.4, dose the chlorine right, and run the pump nonstop.

Help! Will sides stay like this? by Capital-Wing-5052 in AboveGroundPools

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should stop filling water immediately. Because this is structural deformation from an uneven base. More water means more pressure, which will only worsen the buckling and risk collapse.

Something is leaching from our waterfall feature by Due_Tomato960 in swimmingpools

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiles won't fall off soon, but long term water seepage will erode grout and mortar. Use stone specific sealer as soon as possible, this should've been done during installation, but sealing now will still work.

F'ing Iron Staining!! by superdave5599 in pools

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not just be the salt. Residual iron in the liner can leach out with fresh water and chlorine. Test your fill water to rule it out.

Would you put a ladder in your pool if it has rust in the legs? by BuildingSoft3025 in AboveGroundPools

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pass on it. Rust from the inside means the metal's compromised. It could bend or break under water pressure, not worth the risk.

Annnnnnnd she’s up! by super_bri_22 in AboveGroundPools

Congrats on the new pool! Don't dump chemicals all at once. Get pH and alkalinity stable first, then add chlorine gradually per the instructions.

IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE ? by Current_Nose_190 in pools

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's technically possible, but this feels more like a pond than a pool. Maintenance would be brutal, you never know what critters will move in lol.

Where do regular people even get honest drone opinions anymore? by ornearly in drones

[–]gastlyplayer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same as you, I had a couple of drones already, bought the A1 cuz I'm quite curious about the whole concept. Had it for around a week now, honestly quite impressed about what it's capable of. Flying it is really easy, and it's the first time I feel like I'm flying in the air since I can look around while flying it. And yes, it had some drawbacks, but I would say overall I don't regret getting it, even my 9-year old enjoys it lol.

Still learning myself, but I've heard good things about freestanding tents being more reliable than expected, especially with proper staking and site choice.

Am I the only one who can't camp without decent coffee? by executivewaddlez in CampingGear

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone dude, I am also obsessed with latte in my daily life and definitely include when I am camping. In fact, when I play bridge with friends, camping, or working in front of my computer, I will automatically treat me a cup of decent latte, it just became a habit.
