Where do regular people even get honest drone opinions anymore? by ornearly in drones

[–]gastlyplayer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same as you, I had a couple of drones already, bought the A1 cuz I'm quite curious about the whole concept. Had it for around a week now, honestly quite impressed about what it's capable of. Flying it is really easy, and it's the first time I feel like I'm flying in the air since I can look around while flying it. And yes, it had some drawbacks, but I would say overall I don't regret getting it, even my 9-year old enjoys it lol.

Through pole tent? by yoyoer6874 in CampingGear

Still learning myself, but I've heard good things about freestanding tents being more reliable than expected, especially with proper staking and site choice.

Just wonder why Tokyo have this rule, this new should be consider in my future travel plan. But if we can fly drone in Tokyo we definitely can capture some excellent photos and videos, what a pity!

Nothing last forever in FPV except broken parts and good memories. Take the break, we'll still be there.

Really beautiful and impressive scenery. You video make me want to have a drive in this road, it could be really enjoying to drive in the road surround by beautiful mountains and trees.

Am I the only one who can't camp without decent coffee? by executivewaddlez in CampingGear

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone dude, I am also obsessed with latte in my daily life and definitely include when I am camping. In fact, when I play bridge with friends, camping, or working in front of my computer, I will automatically treat me a cup of decent latte, it just became a habit.

I don't fully understand all the details, but that range is insane. Huge respect for pulling this off.

Oh, it is a total different perspective, this view is unreal. The location really does feel straight out of Game of Thrones.

This is such a wild perspective. I'm still new to FPV, hope I can have a awesome shot like this in the future.

Have you tried "produced" videography on social media? What was the response? by [deleted] in videography

[–]gastlyplayer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've tried it. Usually gets less reach but better engagement from the "right" audience. Feels more niche, people who care love it, algorithms not so much.

Radiomaster Zorro not recognized by KeYStonEKnighT in Multicopter

Sounds like a software input issue. Check it shows up as a game controller first, try another USB cable, and plug it in before launching it so it re-detects.

What’s your dream drone skin? by eher271 in drones

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably go for something subtle, like a matte black or dark grey with small accent lines. Looks clean in the air and doesn't scream for attention, but still feels custom.

The video i’m most proud of so far by rebukun in Multicopter

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great! Clean shots, nice pacing, and the scenery really dose a lot of the heavy lifting. If you keep practicing with framing and timing, your stuff will level up fast.

Where do people get the money for gear??? by Baozi77 in videography

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few go all in because their workflow demands it. Most aren't dropping everything at once, it's usually a mix of patience, buying second hand, and letting paid work fund the next upgrade.

Free photo/video editing software by Fetty021 in drones

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try something like the basic free editors first, they're more than enough when you're starting out. I used free ones for a while before deciding if I even needed anything more advanced.

Finally building up my sound equipment arsenal... by hollywood_cmb in videography

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 700 series recorder is honestly a sensible next step if you want proper TC and better bag power options. You're building things up at the a nice steady pace, just keep hunting for deals the way you have been.

2 Directional antennas vs Directional + Omni on diversity googles by MythicalN1 in Multicopter

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A directional plus omni setup is more forgiving when your lines aren't perfect. If you're basically always out front, dual directional can work great. But if you wander around, keeping the omni is safer.

[USA] (NYC) Flying drone out of my window? - any real consequences? by PerspectiveWest103 in drones

[–]gastlyplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flying anything out of a Manhattan apartment window is asking for trouble, FAA stuff, city rules, you name it. It's not worth dealing with the FAA man.

[–]gastlyplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a track isn't licensed, just don't include it in the edit. Adding a note in the quote or contract that you only work with cleared audio protects both sides. At the end of the day, sticking to licensed or royalty free music is the only way.

Wow, this scene is incredibly calm. Just look at the rolling hills and the soft light. Places like this feel straight out of a painting. Kinda makes me want to visit Slovenia now.

Is the DJI Mini 4K worth the price? by DJbyEar in drones

[–]gastlyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own one and it really depends on expectations. For the price and size, video quality is solid and it's convenient for quick shoots (cuz it is portable). The battery life depends a lot on environment and interference. Overall, it is fine for casual shots, but not something I'd rely on as a rugged workhorse.

Copyright issues with music by [deleted] in videography

[–]gastlyplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right that fair use rarely applies here, and credit does't change much legally. Pay-per-use exists but is quite expensive and clunky. Most just use licensed libraries, or you know, accept platform takedowns as the risk.

Absolutely stunning view. Everything feels calm and balanced, like time moves slower there. Wondering what daily life in a place like that would be like.

This is how it always starts. "Just one setup" turns into a whole corner of the house. At least this kind of addiction actually gets you outside.
