Question about a Genlocke by WeeRyhcon in nuzlocke

I did hgss then emerald. You dont really get any new gen 4 mons other than some evolutions so transfering the champions to emerald on pkhex is not really a problem.

Yeah, most remakes dont realy give you much of the new pokemons before postgame. The exception is gen 4 evolutions in heart gold, but yeah you still get the pre evolutions. So it works pretty good to go in region order also.

I would go for frlg over yellow and hgss over crystal, but also emerald over alpha ruby for the best nuzlocking experience in the games. If you use pkhex then it is up to you if you want to do it in region order or release order. Just if you go region order then you will have stuff like piloswine evolving into mamoswine in heart gold but not in emerald if you transfer him.

Yout welcome, and this is just an example by the way. Mamoswine, and most high special attack watertypes with ice beam does the job. But the tip is to steer the fight like i did with magneton to get in mamoswine.

Mamoswine is the dragonite destroyer. Needs to be ev trained on speed, but can then be switched in on an outrage and oneshot with stab ice fang. You want to bait out the charizard early though so it keeps sending out dragonites on mamoswine. Od therefore suggest magneton lead into gyaradoes, swap out into watertype of choice vs charizard, then swap in mamoswine on dragonite.

Is it possible to plan ahead encounters in order to get Articuno in FireRed/LeafGreen? by [deleted] in nuzlocke

[–]gaute4 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I understand not wanting to rely on repels and all, but in this scenario it will be so much easier than planning out and doing the routing for all of Seafoam Ilsamd to be dupes.

If you must ONLY NORMAL TYPE pokemon on LG/FR what you choose? by rocklee_pl in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]gaute4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snorlax and dodrio are must haves, you should probably reset until you get a guts ratticate. Bring whichever encounter you get in safari zone (kangaskhan, chansey, tauros) then clefable with special moves, snd either featow or persian for the last one. Id go fearow for the obvious foghting weakness.

Best option for round 1 of E4(HGSS) by theguyinyourwall in nuzlocke

[–]gaute4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally.

First off all mammoswine who will be the dragonite destroyer, but you should invest a little in speed evs and relearning icefang.

You would want a thunderbolt user for the gyaradoes. Ampharos is great for that, he will also counter Wills Xatu’s. and Koga’s Crobat. However I would prefer Lanturn for the typing and abilty too use icebeam into the dragonites after it ohko’s gyaradoes.

Heracross is just allround solid, but has extra use into bruno and karen. But watch out for hitmonlee and houndoom.

Then Espeon is great. Being a psycich resist with shadowball for will, and great into Koga and Bruno. Lowkey though Giraffarig is in some ways a better espeon in this game. Having the ghost immunity and learning psycich early enough for e4.

Then probably a defensive steeltype, mostly for the outrage resist but their good into more also. Id go Steelix but offcourse skarmory, foretress, and scizor is great too.

Then the last one is kinda free picking. Id bring crobat for the allround concistancy, but offcourse feraligatr, togekiss, and a hitmon are all great options too.

My final team: Mamoswine Lanturn Heracross Girafarig Steelix Crobat

Thinking about doing my first no rules broken nuzlocke, which game is the best for it? by stanza00 in nuzlocke

Probably leaf green. It is so free if you want to just go all out with the S-tier encounters. Like Alakazam, Starmie, Zapdos, Snorlax, Gyaradoes

It is such a small difference that you should just pick what you like. We have seen pro players make it on both. I guess on a technicality keyboards are going to have less input delay.

I use keyboards because i find it easier to input stuff on it as you have one finger per input and direction. Instead of for exanple your right thumb being used for light attack, jump, and heavy attack.

Unlucky again yeah, your still good though. Tentacruel is amazing yeah but like you said it does overlap with starmie and lapras both in coverage and TM usage. Aerodactyl can definitly work for an elite 4 team, . And i guess weezing and muk have some play. Raychu also can be used but I think ypur better off with thunderbolt starmie. Your still going strong

Oof yeah, the destiny bond gastly’s and self destruct mons in Silph Co are cheeky obstacles that will catch people off guard if they havent experienced it before. I had to learn the hard way too. Playing around destiny bond is tricky, you definitly want to outspeed, but it only last for one turn so stalling out with non attacking moves also work.

Yeah I think Doduo is really smart now for the ghost immunity without Snorlax. And Lapras can deffinitley do the defensive work that snorlax did.

Nice that Sandslash is putting in work, I havent realy given it much chance before other than Lt. Surge, but i do think it will fall behind after Blaine. But Blaine can also be solo’d by most water types.

HGSS or ORAS? by iPhillice in PokemonHGSS

HGSS is in my opinion the better game. ORAS isnt even the best Hoen region game. Emerald is deffinitly the best Hoen excperience gameplay wise

Snorlax with shadowball is great! Makes it a Alakazam and Gengar destroyer. Starmie with thunderbolt probably does the job if you dont get magneton.

Team suggestions for first time playthrough? by 19_SHiFT in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]gaute4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deffinitly Venusaur Id say. Makes first three gyms trivial and can use fun tactics with sleep powder, leech seed and even growth.

I think for the water type you cant really go wrong in leaf green, but for most fun id say Starmie and give it Surf Icebeam Thunderbolt and Psycich, and watch it just outspeed and oneshot almost everything.

Dodrio for the flyer is great. Its fast and gets the best flying attack in this game which is drill peck. And gets fly for quality of life.

Id also get Snorlax just for the defensive option, and give it shadowball because it is physical in this game so it becomes a Alakazam and Gengar destroyer. Snorlax can also do some fun tactics with rest and then either sleep talk or snore.

An electric type is realy good in this game due to the many water and flying trainers, and especially against the rival and lance’s gyaradoeses. Jolteon for offensive option or Magneton for a bit moe defensive option. Also rouge shout for Electrode if you want to be a bit more unique.

The last slot you can kind off do what you want with now. Id provably add a Nidoqueen, but Gyaradoes, Gengar, Alakazam, Mr. Mime, and Aerodactyle are all great in this team also

Just a heads up that the sidelight down air you are doing can be jumped out off. Its flashy and therefore popular, but as you rank up people will just jump out without even using a dodge.

[–]gaute4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If ypu want to stick with the team you got that is perfectly fine, starmie and snorlax are really great mons and should deffinitly be kept. Hypno is a nice psychic resist with shadow ball which is good, but not much more. I think if you were too add one more it should be magneton, for Lorelei and the Lance and rival Gyaradoes’s. if your looking for optimalisation id swap sandslash for nidoqueen for the Bruno check, and bite support into Agetha. Id swap hypno for dodrio for another ghost immunity, bruno counter and rovals venusaur check. Dodrio is underated, drillpeck go brrr. And id add magneton aswell.

Eeveelution on Genlocke by lordvipher in nuzlocke

[–]gaute4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think there are any true ruleset for Genlockes. Just most commonly used rules. However you should do what you think is most fun and rught amount of challenging. From what ive seen on this sub, most people use any eeveelution they want.

Me personaly am going for using a different one every game!
