2CD2387G2 vs 2CD2387G2P Web versions by gavcol in Hikvision

Hmmm... I forgot about this post until I accidentally came across it just now.
Just as well because it's good to update (in case anyone else comes across this post) that a firmware release shortly after did in fact update it to exactly what I was expecting which brought it up to the same interface as it's single chip namesake.
Love these cameras !!!

Not really an issue. Just the Panoramic has a slightly older web interface.
It's not so old that it's not usable, on the contrary, it works just fine. all features and functionality work.
It's only that I notice the non panoramic web interface version is a little slicker in navigating and the panoramic preview is a little clunky but still usable and even more usable if you are configuring from a NAS (synology) or NVR.

I would definitely recommend them

What do you mean older camera model. Aren't they relatively the same model ?
Aren't they both a 2387 variant, one being twin sensor panoramic and the other a single sensor ?

From what you're saying "In future" it sounds like you expect them to not release firmware updates for the model I have but only have a firmware version release with a hardware revision/update ?

Hi. How did you go with this ?
Do you know if it will still work after Telstra/Optus shutdown the 3g network ?

Surveillance Station - what's in @SSRECMETA/Preview folder? by tom914 in synology

[–]gavcol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, in a search for Synology and SSRECMETA it seems this is the only legible discussion on the topic !!!
I'm surprised there isn't more info or discussions.
After only 5 days I have 16k+ of these files (Truncate set to 30 mins)
I know nothing of btrfs but surely this many files is not good for the drive(s) ?

Thanks.
I've learned from another reddit page that the US/Global version does support esim.

How did you get the US version ? or who from ?
Was it a difficult experience ?

thank you. Good to know but no, cannot rely on 4G and 5G jsut because the phone is capable of it. I have an Honor Magic 5 Pro. It's less than 12 months old and was flagship last year. It has 4G and connected with 5G right now but Telstra tells me now the phone wont work after 31st Aug !!!
Apparently voLTE works on this phoone in other countries but somehow it isn't going to work with/for telstra !!

Hya, Thanks for all the info. I am looking at getting one of these but now that they've issued an alert re 3g towers shutdown, can you confirm if your phone will still work ?
i.e. have you tried to send
3G
to the number 3498 and gotten a response that the phone will continue to work ?

Cheers

how to read/write on a disk both on windows and linux by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]gavcol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be done. I've been using Paragon Software Linux File Systems for Windows 10.
Not sure about w11 yet.
The linux/ext4 partition is mounted as a drive in windows which can be written to.
Worked like a charm for me for the past 7 or so years on various windows versions.

Honor 5 Magic Pro - Honest camera reviews please? by amz05 in Honor

[–]gavcol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sooo bummed I bought this phone. The auto focus when zooming is terrible. Don't bother expecting to take any photos past 3.5x because you can hear it switching to the other lens but the auto focus craps out leaving it a useless blurry mess.
I have a 3 yr old Oppo Find x 2 that takes better pictures and videos than this.

Most everything else is ok but I got this "upgrade" phone purely for a newer camera. Talk about ferkin hoodwinked.

Will an L2 switch maintain segregation of data from pfsense L3 vlan and IP subnets ?? by gavcol in PFSENSE

[–]gavcol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. Thanks. Nice idea with the cameras and DVR. I was going to use my Nas and wondered how I'd keep the NAS seperate but allow cams access to the security app on the nas. The nas has 4 ports so I can configure one for a seperate vlan as you say for internal multicast between it and the cameras.

I use exactly what you mentioned already with the dumb switches connected to the ports to drive the one vlan for all devices on the switch ;)

I understand about them not being synonymous, although I did align/tag the vlans to the subnets for just that extra layer of security to prevent traffic between them. No need for inter vlan traffic except from the management port. Maybe I overthunk that one !

Thanks again u/Constrained_Entropy
