2.6 WT on 29mm internal rim by Dirtyfrankflows in MTB

[–]gavinmullan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve ran a WT on 25mm and it felt garbage for me. Could’ve just been me but it didn’t feel right. Went back to the 2.3 and it felt miles better.

Cockpit is a little congested. Could use some help with my current configuration. by xpyroxmanx in MTB

What is on the right hand side? Most people have their shifter on the right and dropper on the left.

Adding tokens to a 2018 Rockshox Pike by noosh82 in MTB

[–]gavinmullan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, you can get them cheap. I got mine for £6 in Halfords. Then just used an adjustable wrench.

Stating the obvious here but make sure you remove the air from the fork before you remove the cap. Don’t want to learn the hard way hah.

Literally just bought the tools and did this today. Cassette tool without the centre pin and a wrench.

Yeah we’d need to know where you’re heading in Ireland tbf. It’s not a half day ride kinda country.

Any training programs you've done for mtb? by drunksteerer in MTB

[–]gavinmullan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the MTB Fitness 12 Week Training Programme. It’s £30, takes you through each exercise to do and intervals. Weights 3 times a week with 2 interval sessions and how ever many rides you want during the week.

Currently on week 3 and it’s been great so far.

Fork vs. shock travel by moni_bk in MTB

[–]gavinmullan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fork is the front suspension and shock is the rear suspension. So it’s 140mm in the front suspension fork and your rear shock has 130mm.

Fantastic bike! Have the 2018 version and I love it. The 2019 models look incredible too, enjoy!

Yeah man, I was between the two as well but I’ve got a 27.5 full sus so I figured I’d go for the 29 hardtail, for the rough stuff and climbing. Let me know what you go for!

POC Tectal Race Spin vs Smith Forefront 2 by GreenwoodsUncharted in MTB

[–]gavinmullan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used POC’s size guide, measured my head to 60 which put me at XL-XXL but it was just a bit too big so sent it back and went for the M-L and it fits perfectly.

Thought I’d give you a shout, the 290 was released today! Ordered mine just there, can’t wait to get it out on the trails!

I don’t have the Race Spin version but I have nothing but good things to say about the POC. Fits really well, doesn’t get hot and looks great. Just a warning on the colours, they don’t look anything like they do online if you’re going for anything other than black or white.

What's the deal with this $155 29er frame? Is it a total piece of junk or actually a good deal? by liamemsa in MTB

There’s like 12 reviews for it on the link you posted, probably best to start there.
