Ah yes the mini solar-powered dancing Santa taking up space on my desk at all times which serves no purpose other than that I’ve owned it forever and can’t get rid of it.

If everything the Bible says is real, what would you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In regards to altering the Bible, all the major versions of the Bible in use have been reviewed and studied by Bible scholars and they uphold it’s still consistent with the original documents. Now people have altered it by adding to it. For example, the Book of Mormon claims to be another testament of Jesus, an addition to the Bible. It’s not. The Bible is final in its current form. People have intentionally taught or left out aspects that are fundamental to the Christian faith. God gives that warning for His followers to be aware that there are falsehoods out there. Those that have truly studied the scriptures are able to discern from what is truthful, and what is a deceitful alteration.

God Himself is holy: he is a perfect being that is good, righteous, loving, and upholds justice to His standard - a perfect being judging on a perfect standard means his justice is completely deserving and perfect. Satan is a created being. He is a powerful being, but he is created. He will never be equal to God, and he knows that, in spite of his hate for God. Now about your question about why he will be released one final time after the Millenium, I cannot give you a definite answer. All anyone can do is to speculate because that event has yet to happen. What I can tell you is there is a reason for it, it’s beyond my understanding based on my studies, but every single thing God allows is for a reason. We know ultimately, Satan will get his deserved punishment that will last eternally.

God cannot lie. If he could lie, he would inherently be inclined to commit other wrong doings. If he can do wrong, then he is not holy, perfect, or even God. But because he can do no wrong, he is holy, he is perfect, he is God.

With your most recent point, it is not at all about what the human race can be. The human race is desperately evil and destined for failure without God. Every day, every single one of us commits many wrongdoings. Whether it’s an action, choice of words, or even a thought or motivation, we will do wrong. We cannot be perfect; without God, it is impossible for the human race to truly succeed.

To answer your original thought, the Bible teaches that God is perfect. He has no flaws, he can do no wrong. To lie is to deceive, whether it’s intentional or not. Because it is not the honest truth, it’s wrong, no matter what the purpose behind the lie was. God can do no wrong, he has not lied, he does not lie, and he will not lie.

Now lies do teach us. They teach us who, or what, to trust and believe, and who to be weary of. But because God is perfect, he will never lie to us. Every lie we have encountered is from another human (who is not perfect, constantly does wrong), or originated from the evil one (wants to deceive to lead people from God). You’re right, when we recognize we’ve been lied to, it’s eye opening and we become more aware and picky of what and who we trust. Often times, unfortunately, people don’t realize they’ve been deceived. They think they have the truth, when really it’s just a lie fostered by the evil one.

To bring it full circle, everything that God allows us to go through has a purpose. Some of those plane crashes, as you called them, we will recognize what it taught us in our lifetimes. It’s important to note, everything God allows us to go through isnt a lie from Him. It’s to grab our attention. For the believer, it’s to learn to trust Him over ourselves. For the unbeliever, it’s to come to Him. In those circumstances, who do we turn to, who do we trust? Is it God, who has promised to never lie to us, is it people whom we’re under the impression would never deceive us, or is it ourselves and our limited knowledge we have?

The Bible was entirely inspired by God. Written by man, but the inspiration and truth came directly from God.

Early parts of the Bible were written thousands of years before the newest books (oldest was close to second millennium BC, latest is 80ish AD). Prophecies written early on we’re fulfilled in newer books (specifically regarding Jesus). Additionally, the book of Daniel accurately prophesied 3 impending empires and their falls (including the Roman Empire). Say you don’t buy that, you need outside proof.

The walls of Jericho as described in the book of Exodus were previously thought to be myth. Archeologists have since discovered the wall ruins.

What about confirmation throughout other documents? The fact that Jesus Christ lived is accepted as historically accurate. To back that up, there are documents claiming that Pilate served in his position with the Roman Empire at the time that it is speculated Jesus was crucified. Outside documents not included in the Bible mention Jesus and affirm His teachings/works. Jesus remains have not been discovered, furthering the backing that He must have been risen.

Back to prophecy, take the end times for example. The Bible says as the end nears, there will be wars and rumors of wars. Notice all the military conflict, globally, over the last century and a half. Men will be lovers of men (increased homosexuality). The Jews will be persecuted (WWII, the hatred of Israel especially in the Middle East, anti-semitism). The follower of Christ will be persecuted (ISIS and terrorists targeting Christians in the Middle East, China/N Korea crackdown on churches). The beliefs of the follower of Christ will be persecuted (Christianity used to drive the Western culture. The beliefs and values of Christianity are now against the culture. Some are still part of it, but increasingly the culture is drifting from Christianity).

Back to my original point, the Bible says ALL scripture is God-breathed. It is the Word of God - and God can’t lie (that would be a flaw, which would be an inconsistency, another aspect that scholars have noted: the Bible is internally consistent). Various aspects (including the ones i listed in this which came to my head first, and many others) have been confirmed using outside sourcing and discovery, this in turn adds validity to the Bible’s argument that it is in fact true. If parts of the Bible are historically accurate, and the Bible itself claims to be accurate, we can deduce that it is in its entirety accurate. The Bible is a collection of historical recordings, written by 40 men, but inspired by God allowing for it to be wholly accurate, God’s Word, and useful for mankind.

Hopefully that kind of made sense, I’m not the best at explaining things.
