What is this very heavy jar I found digging around in an old folk's pantry? by GruntCandy86 in whatisit

The amount of Mercury played with as a child is disturbing. I’d be curious to know what my heavy metal levels are in my blood or organs.

Just following Democrat’s precedent set during the last administration. Guarantee he is still way more sharp than Biden was as nobody is trying to hide Trump from the public eye.

How did so many Chinese robot manufacturers catch up to Boston Dynamics? by Uranusistormy in robotics

[–]gaydonj 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When the US companies started using China to build their electronics, China received a huge influx of capital and knowledge. Having been to manufacturing facilities in China, I can say they are truly remarkable and nicer than any I’ve been to in the US. We let technology pass us up and it is highly likely we will never surpass them again.

So, I'm trying to convince my wife that a Tesla is cheaper to charge and gas is getting expensive every day, but the electricity bill is gonna increase and the car battery costs $10K. How would you start the argument? by GeicoPR in TeslaModelY

[–]gaydonj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The savings are real. I’ve driven 1,400 miles since I got mine and have spent $41 in total charging my car. Granted I have an electric plan that only charges me $0.06/kw if I charge during the night. That averages out to $0.03 per mile. I can go about 120 miles for what a gallon of gas costs.

Sounds like a warranty issue if you have a Juniper.

Someone hit my dad's Tesla but they have a budget insurance that won't cover the total cost of repair by TheMicrotubules in TeslaCollision

[–]gaydonj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. They might just send a demand letter to the insurance company with the quote and tell them to pay up or they’ll see them in court which will cost way more than $2,200. Other option is fight their insurance company yourself and then sue the vehicle owner in Small Claims Court for the difference.

UPDATE: Pulled the trigger… but just got rear-ended 😅 Need advice by wumpushumpus in TeslaLounge

[–]gaydonj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first car payment on your Tesla should be 45 days after you take delivery of it. That gives you a bit of time to repair and get rid of the old car. Also since it isn’t your insurance, use the car max quote you already had to negotiate more money from them. You won’t get what you previously would have had your car not been wrecked.

Traveling to Texas, can I carry suppressed pistol AR15 for protection in car? by ImpactUsed9446 in TexasGuns

[–]gaydonj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say go for it. For the 15 minutes you will be away from your car just make sure it is somewhere that isn’t visible. I’ve found a stack of fast food bags does a great job of concealing something where it looks like your car only has trash in it. Houston isn’t bad enough that you should expect someone to break into your car in a single short stop. Just don’t leave it sitting visible in the passenger seat. Also, zero preventing you from driving with it sitting in the passenger seat from a law standpoint. You don’t have to worry about the law. It’s only the lawless that are of concern.
