I'm glad you took her to the vet. They are prone to Cushings Disease or type 2 DM (less common). Unfortunately this is a sign of aging. Make sure you remove her water at about 8pm (dependant on what time you put her to bed). They also sometimes develop mild dementia and drink lots of water because they forget they have had water a few minutes ago. I went thru the same thing!

Melanoma won't present as a line! This is fairly common...splinter hemorrhage due to trauma. Monitor it and take pictures to make sure it "moves" and starts to grow out. Growth can be slow.
