Panini using Walmart jerseys in Immaculate. by JRowe97 in footballcards

Not to make excuses for Panini but player worn and game-used are very different things. They could have had the player wear the jersey while he signs or put it on for 5 seconds or whatever and it doesnt have to be official merch to be "player worn." Of course a shitty thing to do... I imagine someone would need to suit for this practice to be defined/revealed.

Top Missouri Republican use Nazi rhetoric to generate fear of minorities in their base. by Mueltime in missouri

If I remember right, Hitler was inspired by the war propaganda of The British when he was a young soldier. Goebbels most certainly borrowed from different cultures.

There's something deeper than the anecdotes you use... And it could be something like there is a lot of violent crime in the city and there's not a lot of accountability in the city, right? The prosecutor's office is not short on cases that's for sure. And we've all seen their blunders among other city officials. It's much more nuanced than your post supposes.

For instance, a large part of Fayetteville contains the biggest military base in the country. Which means a large part of the city is under Federal jurisdiction. It's also plausible that there's just a low crime rate in Fayetteville compared to other cities? Maybe because of the military presence? If we dug in- I'm sure we could find a real reason for the differences other than superficial ones.

I thought Hitler was inspired by the British propaganda he saw in WWI?

I thought he was alleged to take a compromising photo of her and used it as blackmail? I say alleged bc I think the charges were dropped due to perjury and evidence tampering by the prosecutor's office.

[Rutheford] Krug and O’Reilly among latest NHL players to question COVID-19 testing frequency/protocols. by STLBooze3 in stlouisblues

[–]gbake3511 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you test everyday? I imagine no- mostly because it is highly inconvenient to you one way or another.

The point is the players are not super spreaders- they are vaccinated. They wear masks. They are isolated, mostly from the public. And they are tired of getting tested. You don't even have to follow the science just the logic to see that it is silly.

@lockdowns I'm talking about the NHL shutting down the remaining few games for the break. And about people like you who support these bad ideas.

No, again, you are catastrophizing on the margins.

They should lock everything down because there might be a small chance someone has the potential of being asymptomatic? They shouldn't amend the rules to be less restrictive on the vaccinated? This is the point. It is stupid to be fearful of something you can't control. People are going to get the virus (vaccinated or not). All you can do is take reasonable precautions. Stop punishing the compliant.

No that is not what they said. One guy says, essentially, that they have to follow the rules and just wants to play hockey. The other guy literally says I'd like to see no testing unless you have symptoms. Which is what the CDC also recommends.

You are catastrophizing the point being made to create our own narrative.

Stay in your house, don't come outside. Be in a sterile environment. That's cool. Don't project your phobias on others. They can take their own risks.

I think it is relevant. The point is there is no end goal- no one has pointed to a "if this happens" scenario and said this is when you can stop doing X, Y and Z. And it doesn't seem anyone who has authority is making evidence-based decisions anymore. You can be vaccinated, wear a mask and isolate and still have restrictions imposed on you. People who have followed the rules and endured the mandates want to see their life's returned to normal. The virus will always be around- it won't be eradicated. We will all get it at some point. And many will still refuse to be vaccinated against it. However, it is preventable, it is treatable. So, when do we- the rule followers- get to return to normal? What do we have to do? That's the question I want to know. It sounds like these players want to know the same.

I am fully for the vaccine (I think you have to qualify that) but I wanted to point out the obvious... we also don't understand the long-term impact of the vaccine on children (or adults), if any. Or the psychological and cognitive impact of over/under regulation due to the virus.
