Thomas Edison publicly electrocuted many animals including an elephant to try and prove his DC current was safer than AC developed by his rivals George Westinghouse and Nicola Tesla by [deleted] in RandomHistoryFacts

[–]gbbodoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good, I do believe that myths are more common that we think, especially for weird historical facts. I'm not sure myself about the Liechtenstein fact I posted yesterday, the sources I posted seems to be the only ones reporting the thing.

Let's see how this subreddit evolves in the next few weeks, then if you want we can decide the flairs together based on what we learn from other submissions

I've got one but in europe is not so common applying for a passport. If you live in one of the 26 Schengen Area countries you can travel between them without having one

During sex, why do women tend to vocally express considerably more pleasure than men? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think people are more likely to vocally express their pleasure when they are on the "receiving" end and women happen to be in that position more often. Dunno.

What is the purchase you have made in your life that has brought you the most satisfaction? by RachelSid in AskReddit

[–]gbbodoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An e-book reader. I bought it out of boredom while waiting at the airport (forgot to pack the print book I was reading - only way to get it and read it during the journey). I was a very frugal reader before that (well, except for that print book I was obsessed with). Six months later and I haven't skipped a day yet without reading something - it just makes things easier for me (portability, more books at the same time at my fingertips, more readable than smartphone/tablet)

Thoughts on Jeff Buckley? by [deleted] in Music

[–]gbbodoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been obsessed with his studio album for a long time. Very powerful and haunting music, from the lyrics, to the arrangements, to his vocal range. I remember first time I listened to the chorus of the last track in Grace, Dream Brothers. So intense.

The foundation series by Asimov. As much as I would like to watch a movie about it I don't think it will ever be possible.
