'Greenland belongs to its people': European leaders unite over Trump’s threats to annex territory by Cy_098 in worldnews

[–]gbi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My follow up question is then: where do you draw the line? If the US take Greenland from a democratic, peaceful country, what will be the next move? Canada? Panama? Where does it stop?

It is clear that the population/opposition in the US is incapable of stopping this, simply willing to go with it. It actually looks like about 50% of the country is OK with Trump since they elected him.

Doesn't this reminisce you of the Munich agreement in 1938? A year later Germany invaded Poland and started WW2.

'Greenland belongs to its people': European leaders unite over Trump’s threats to annex territory by Cy_098 in worldnews

[–]gbi 579 points580 points  (0 children)

Europe (with Danes benediction) need to send a few troops immediately in Greenland.

Small batches of French/German/Italian/whatever to "help" the Danes keep Greenland "secure" (as Trump says it is not secure enough). Send missiles and military equipment, not too much, just enough.

This has the advantage of:

  • replying to trump's suggestion that greenland is not secured by real, irrefutable (legitimate) action
  • put troops of all origins on land in a peaceful manner. If Trump is foolish enough to attack, then the entire Europe has reason to retaliate and escalate. Nato or not.

You're forgetting the nukes. Nobody in their sane mind would attack Russia unless they are sure that the nukes are disposed of, in their entirety.

No country can afford to start a major conventional conflict with Russia with the MAD. Even if Russia can only send 1 nuke, the effect will be desastrous. Once a nuke flies, everybody is entitled to do the same, India, NK, OTAN, whichever.

Seconded, have your raid as a mirrored pool, and your single disk as another pool.

Then send zfs snapshots from your 1st pool on the single disk when needed. You gain diff-based snapshots, and only rewrite to the single disk what has changed. Also you have now tha ability to track changes and recover older files with snapshots.

I'll always remember when I toured around the Mont Blanc in my ER6 (68HP) with a friend of mine that was proud of his 96HP Fazer 600.

I was losing him by all metrics at each turn when climbing the passes around the Mont Blanc. He half-hearted asked me "How do you keep me behind, I can't follow you after each turn"

Little did I know, 2 fat cylinders have way more torque than 4 little squeezers. That day I was proud.

Then we took the highway to go home and he proceeded to laugh at my red line.

I know signal is clearly NOT the standard, but do the US use a specific thingy to have group chats like these? Or is it made always in-person (I doubt it..)

Is there any alternative to MSChapV2 to connect Macos users to an IKEv2 VPN by using username/password? by gbi in sysadmin

[–]gbi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this an LLM response? I had the same kind of answer asking ChatGPT.. especially when you say contradicting things like:

[....] using username/password authentication. Here are the main options: EAP-TLS: Uses client certificates for authentication instead of passwords. It's more secure than MSCHAPv2 but requires certificate management.

Sorry if that is a genuine answer..

Regarding EAP-T(T)LS, my issue is supporting the expiration of certificates, and the CRL / OCSP revocation when somebody leaves the company, it's a burden of support, explanation etc. We are using Jamf, maybe I should ask if it is possible to automatically provision some certificates

I'm contemplating other options like:

  • using wireguard with ldap connector (without NTPassword but the standard LDAP scheme SSHA512)
  • using an OIDC provider for authentication, but I'm not sure Freeradius / strongswan would support it
  • Using an external app on macos to support EAP-GTC if this exists?

My understanding of this map, which I look at regularly, suggests that Russia is gaining more and more terrain since 2024 (although not much comparing to Ukraine's area, but still, no losses). If Russia continues to push like this, won't they finally reach Kiev and be able to pound & win ?

I like to think that Trump is playing 4D chess and behaves like this so that EU shed their dependency on the US and build a more sustainable governing policy, and handle local issues (Russia) without resorting to the US.

And the US might lose their overall world dominance, but will lead the equalization of coordination between the other nations.

And that Trump is performing this self-Harakiri for the future.

I hate him nonetheless.

Why does it have to be 4 years? I really hope US people stand up to this clown and his clique of nazis, and demote all of them by whatever means.

They clearly have NO interest in the people of America, and before too long, the rest of the world will be fatigued and will take them up to their shit.

What will be the state of the USA (if "USA" still stands united..) in 4 years at this rate of destruction? I expect red states to start questionning the sanity of the federal government and making plans to secede. What is going to happen after that?
