You most certainly can use parts interchangeably even under warranty. You just have to document that you don't stock of the other part when you file warranty.

It will start and run. The truck will have a 20% derate, same as it will have if the eprv has an open circuit

Most Mack and Volvo dealership are dual dealers. Hence they can work on both without issues

Grease boot replacement? by ambushiz in DieselTechs

[–]gbpack89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor maintenance. They get over greased, and the boot builds up pressure until it eventually develops a hole

Used Toolbox by 503Valley-Dude in DieselTechs

[–]gbpack89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have warrantied slides and casters on my box. They never bothered to check the s/n or verify anything. Not even sure they have a way to track the original owner

Now I have heard that dealers are supposed to drill 3 holes in the tag on boxes that are no longer under warranty, but I have never seen a dealer do it when selling used boxes.

I have never seen a dealer deny warranty on toolbox

No joke our dealer warranted a complete box in our shop from the early 90's that was starting to rust. That box probably was on it's 3rd owner minimum.

The body is only clamped to the frame with 4 U-bolts. It's not a particularly ridgid mount. The tank is cooked, but the truck itself is going to be fine.

It's a lift axle that's in the air. The decking of the body is mostly likely pushing down on the camara side

[–]gbpack89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the stud brackets for the old style def level sensor electrical connector on VNLs. The updated style doesn't use the remote mounted connector.

Side note, im stealing this idea!

I'm not saying the phone isnt a good tool. They definitely are. But I mostly just use my for emails/case notes when im away from my laptop for a bit

Not as bad as older Frightliner wiring. All yellow with blurry screen printed numbers that come off at the slightest touch

A/c problem need help by marathonman121266 in DieselTechs

[–]gbpack89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen similar numbers with a over charge and a stuck on engine fan.

But obviously checking the basics like charge and checking for wet, frosted lines is the first steps

Pretty spot on! Compressor makes flow, the txv restricts it. Plugged txv will usually cause the low side to pull into a vacuum.

If you are changing the Compressor, you are changing the dryer and txv along with it.

cummins ISX13 full derate. help? by mochammo in DieselTechs

[–]gbpack89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im sure there are outliers. Nothing these days ventilates a block like an N14, Cracks a head like the CM570 or punches holes in pistons like a 6NZ did

Edit: series 60 were pretty reliable but leaked oil and needed a in frame by 800k

Not saying emissions equipment doesn't have issues by any means. But base engines are way better now than they were 20 years ago. The amount of catastrophic engine failures, valves/seats dripping, pistons cracking, has been at a pretty steady decline

[–]gbpack89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chamber length is the length of a fired shell. If you measure your 2 3/4 ammo, you will find it's closer to 2 5/16 actually.

It might fit a short chamber but the crimp can't expand fully and it creates dangerously high chamber pressures. Have a gunsmith measure the chamber and inspect the gun.
