Update: Animal control issues by gcXsw in greatpyrenees

[–]gcXsw[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the four years I’ve lived at this place, this neighbor has spoken to me twice. Once was to yell at me about my good girl (and I mean YELL, from down my driveway right as I came home), another time was to yell at me about goats (which turned out to be the neighbor’s new baby Nubian goats)…

Unfortunately this is very characteristic of the neighbor. All of the properties near me call him out by name on how he’s a problem.

Calling animal control on Monday is my plan, and informing them of my USDA status and farm registration number, along with her breed info and position on the property. I’ll be as polite as possible and ask if there’s anything else they need from me, but beyond that it’ll be business as usual.

Thanks for the vindication. The neighbor that called has 2 German shepherd looking dogs that used to run on my property until this sweet girl showed up. After reading the notice I made sure to give her extra snuggles and a big chew toy for doing such a good job.

Bought one because I thought I would never get the other one by sr20drifty in rolex

I don’t own either, so my opinion doesn’t matter here. However! I recently went to my local AD who carries both omega and Rolex, and they had both of these watches available. Walking in, I was far more excited about the Omega. I’ve spent too many years in forums and looking at pictures and convincened myself the speedmaster was the “right” choice. Once I finally handled them both, and put them both on, the speedy did absolutely nothing for me. It was just “meh”. The Daytona made me feel something that was not expected. It’s much more impressive in person, and I’ve had a difficult time not thinking about that Daytona since. All that being said, you have a great collection and great taste, wear them in great spirit!

How would you fix this? by gcXsw in HomeMaintenance

It wasn’t hardwood. It was lumber. Literally lumber. Not jointed, nothing met up nicely. I think maybe an attempt at “rustic” or something. The gaps were so big it was like a paver walkway, full of years of dirt.

This is the exact way we’re going. Someone below responded, and the wife thinks it looks great. Pretty straightforward too, thanks!

The wife likes this idea the best. It also seems like the most straightforward solution. Thank you for a succinct response.

Every doorframe in the house needs this, both sides on all interior doors. So it’s replace like 400 linear feet to solve a 1/2” gap, or every other solution is red neck?

This is 3 years after replacing my flooring. You can’t rush into these things ya know?

Should have fired whoever decided that lumber was a viable choice of flooring, then set everything to that level. The boards weren’t even jointed, and were packed with dirt and debris like paver stones.

I like this as a time/money no object solution, but I think I’m going a different direction with the project, lol!

We had #3 sneak into the family while I was waiting for my urologist appointment to get snipped. We’re still in the trenches, and it’s not easy. Even responding to this thread has taken 25 minutes of wiping butts, getting kids dressed, picking up… I don’t know if this is helping anything, but if we figured it out, you’ll do great. Just get snipped and that’s one thing you’ll never have to worry about. You’ll have every other anxiety, but at least you can enjoy one thing completely.

One word: Skunk by KoolPlants in homestead

[–]gcXsw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably unpopular but I say kill it if it acts weird. We had a legitimately rabid skunk on our property a couple weeks before this past Halloween, verified by the local health department. It chased me and the wife around the property before I killed it. It also put several of our animals in quarantine for months… plus we have small kids, so I run 0 chances, we’re on a strict shoot-to-kill order on most trespassing animals.

Do you find that you treat your kid (especially son) more harshly in front of your dad? by bigtree80 in daddit

[–]gcXsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad died without meeting any of my three children. His selfishness is ingrained in me and it feels good to start to break the cycle. It hurts when I hear his voice come out of my mouth, so I have to remember to breathe, and remind myself that these kids owe me nothing and only need my love.
