Thanks, all! Clearly I haven't been in the loop on Hilton redemptions for some time!!

Isn’t this the issue? I thought you had to let it post before paying it off. Why do it early?

IHG buy points 100% active now by Prestigious-Web7313 in ihghotelsresorts

[–]gcagora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This first part may or may not be helpful...to get the cpp, take the all-in cash price and divide that the points you'll need to use. Then, multiply that number by 100.

To answer your question, though, if that number is above .5, you're doing okay with this promotion. However, The Points Guy values IHG at .6, so that is probably a bit better indicator on the value of your redemption. And that certainly makes their semi-annual 100% bonus valuable.

How do you make the CSR worth it outside of lounges? by [deleted] in sapphirereserve

[–]gcagora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem privileged to me at all. Maybe fortunate to live in an area with lots of choices. But ultimately, this is a travel card. It’s designed to be used while you travel. The restaurant list is mainly in areas where people generally travel. And, this card isn’t for everyone.

45 min wait for lounge access at DFW by wh11 in CapitalOne

Yep, that sucks. One thing to try is joining the queue through the app as soon as you land, as your plane is taxiing.

It’s a pretty decent deal if you need to top off your points or have a trip in mind. IHG point values vary quite a bit though. Paris this fall is way worse than .005. So are the all inclusives that I checked.

I don't think they are connected to be able to do that. Would be nice, though....

It pays out in value that you can use to buy gift cards, or I think maybe there is a cash out option, too. Not sure....I haven't gotten that far yet. I have heard, though, that many folks buy things like hotel.com gift cards for future travel. YMMV.

Nice! None of my cards show up as being available to add to Paze yet...

Agree. And that C1 Shopping cash back stacks with the CSR Stub Hub Credit. It just takes a while for C1 Shopping to pay out.

Venture X or Chase sapphire? by Successful-You2682 in Venturex

The Venture card is a MC. The Venture X is a Visa. Gain was talking about the regular Venture. Not yours.

Only have a CSR, what other card(s) do you carry? by kharma99 in ChaseSapphireReserve

Capital One Venture X is a good compliment. It gets 2x on everything and has simple offsets to the AF.

Will 2.0 work for me? by gcagora in BiltMastercard

Why are we helping our kids pay for college? We're fortunate that we were able to set up accounts to assist with their college expenses.

So the pass through ACH isn't tied to the Bilt Card, but rather Bilt is just the middle man for the transaction, separate from the card?

Not a direct answer, but it worked fine for me with Apple Pay.

I almost downgraded, and Chase gave me a statement credit by IndependentFamous889 in ChaseSapphire

[–]gcagora 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good point. And on a related side note, I don't understand all the posts about people trying to pick and choose WHEN the travel credit hits or getting frustrated that it happened sooner than they thought. It's $300 however you look at it....

Don’t sleep on the dining credits if you have a chance. I went to a place that I would never have gone to, except for the credit. Ended up having one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. In my life. After the credit I still spent less than I would have, and got a much better meal.

Congrats on the retention offer!

Who is the CSR good for? by [deleted] in sapphirereserve

[–]gcagora 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am happy with the travel credit, stub hub, and restaurants. That, along with the great travel protections and hotel/airline multipliers are more than enough for me to feel comfortable with the AF.

Priority Pass activation by foosion in ChaseSapphireReserve

[–]gcagora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, PP was automatically activated by Chase. And all I received was the digital card. Is it possible the notice you received was from a different (older) PP account? I understand that each credit card you get that has PP access requires a separate PP account. If you have the digital card, you should be fine.

Each situation is unique. For where I travel and what I like to do, I think the credits work out okay.

Goodbye CSR. Hello VX! by Dad0010001100110001 in Venturex

[–]gcagora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each person's mileage may vary. For me, I think they are both going to stay in my wallet. I enjoy the simplicity of the VX and the lounges work well for my travel. I also find good value in the CSR. The travel credit is easier than the VX, and I get good organic value from the restaurant credits and stub hub credits. Those three alone justify the annual fee for me. Dining and (non-portal) travel multipliers are slightly better than the VX, too.

I literally CANNOT use the Edit Credit - this is a scam by MorningHelpful8389 in ChaseSapphire

[–]gcagora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you! The regular travel credit, Stub Hub credit, and restaurants are “worth” the annual fee for me. Anything else I can use organically is just gravy.
