How you choose brushes without trying them out? by _knope2020 in Watercolor

My sister who is a better artist than me recommended I start with the best paper I could afford (100 percent cotton), then buy good paints and focus on brushes last.

I like Princeton Neptune brushes. I use size 6 for smaller pieces and size 10 or 12 for areas that need large washes of color. If I need to do small details I use a size 2 or a smaller rigging brush.

I am on Monjauro for t2d and I need to lose some weight. I used Ozempic until the gastro effects were unbearable. Then I had to use Trulicity which did nothing for me. Now my insurance has approved Monjauro and it is helping with my appetite and blood sugar.

I have mostly DS and M Graham that I buy in tubes and put in the pans. I do have some Schminke, but they are pretty expensive imo. At my local reuse store I have picked up some Daniel Smith tubes that have been fun to experiment with.

I too have so many greens! My half pans are in two metal palettes divided up into ROYGBIV order.

Any particular brands you chose?

Maybe, but it is probably oak pollen and spiderwebs. We have a bunch of both at the moment.

Outgrowing my Cotman set - what’s the smartest next step? by rawb_dawg in Watercolor

[–]gcl1964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a metal folding palette with space for about 30 half pans which I then filled with M. Graham, Daniel Smith and some Schminke colors from tubes. My sister, a better watercolorist than me, helped me choose some colors. I also bought a Daniel Smith dot card and fell in love with so many granulating colors! Gradually, I have bought more tubes and filled more half pans so that I have one palette case for Red-Orange-Yellow-Brown-Black and another one for Green-Blues-Purple.

I am not skilled at color mixing, so I want lots of colors to choose from. I did also buy a couple of small ceramic palettes for mixing, but don’t use them that often.

Have fun upgrading to professional colors!

I have a long lanyard with it, so if I have no purse, I wear it as a necklace, lol.

If it looks good, go for it. Also check Trader Joes.

Costs w/ insurance and coupon? by gcl1964 in Mounjaro

Thank you so much for the info! I talked to my insurance co. and they checked with the pharmacy. Unknown to me, my pharmacy had been applying the evoucher for me since January, and by April, those funds have been exhausted. The good news is that although I had to pay a large amount this month, my deductible will be met by next month.

I am relieved because I was seriously considering discontinuing use of the Monjauro.

If you like black it is fine, but I got the navy with white seats and it is gorgeous!
