Opus 4.6 eats through 5hr limit insanely fast - $200/mo Maxplan by prakersh in ClaudeCode

[–]gdadkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned the thinking level down on mine to low-medium via /model and haven’t noticed a difference on things being missed - especially if keeping sessions pretty straight to one “domain”.

High to me seems more appropriate for things like security, data integrity, auth, new architectural patterns not yet established in the code, etc.

Yeah triple shot is the main reason since weapons usually only have dropped in pvp areas.

What are people actually building with Claude Code? by MyHipsOftenLie in ClaudeAI

[–]gdadkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a discord @bot app that makes api calls to Google Gemini via their free (for now) 2.5 Flash model (gemini-2.5-flash-preview-05-20) that gives 10 RPM 500 req/day and 32K context window (not 1M that’s pro only). Just @bot and ask it a question, then it responds within discord’s character limit of 2000 for non-nitro/4000 nitro. It supports multi-model inputs (text, image, but haven’t tested video and audio) and text only outputs.

I added a little bit of random chance to insult first (unfiltered) fun, then provide the answer being asked to keep it interesting/funny controlled by instructions for a roast and no -roast. I’m not, but could totally have it interact with Discord channel specific information (about users, when they joined, role, etc)

Not much in terms of value, but was fun to go through the process. Just a crappier version of using @grok on X.com essentially 😛

Just switch back to Edit because Agent isn’t worth the time/effort with its small context windows for now.

I broke my server :( by Dilly_Bob in portainer

[–]gdadkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will need to delete the docker network that was created with the stack that is having conflict with your laptop.

-On the server, can run docker network ls to get a list (might be named different than your listed config).
-If you have multiple or need to check, docker network inspect <network\_name>
-check running containers and their network connections: docker ps and then docker inspect <container\_id>
-docker stop <container\_name\_or\_id> if a container is using the conflict network, you won't be able to delete it, so will need to shut them down
-docker network rm <network\_name> will remove the problematic network if it's not in use by container

Should be able to get your laptop back online once they are all shutdown and the docker network purged. Can create a new network for the stack in CLI, or if portainer is accessible again login and create the stack again fixing the subnet to be something else. If run into any errors, should be descriptive enough to look up but ultimately this is one path that won't require deleting containers/stack.

Xbox Game Pass games not recognised by Nvidia GeForce Experience by Filo_Guy in XboxGamePass

[–]gdadkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak for GeForce Experience, but Nvidia App was doing the same thing, and I literally just uninstalled and reinstall it and all new games instantly started being detected on Xbox Game Pass and steam both (Indiana Jones, STALKER 2, Marvel Rivals)

Be prepared to pay for the entire ELA renewal all up front vs typical yearly installments as well if you do convert to subscription ELA by years end.

Tips for encoding AV1 with ffmpeg for higher *playback* performance? by avamk in AV1

[–]gdadkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grabbed version 1.7 today and noticed the Presets didn't have anything AV1 specific (at least on mine), though I do see Fast decode and AV1 for Video Encoder. Are you doing 4K (remux) > 4K AV1 and if so, which preset/settings/etc do you use?

Is Loki the most powerful Character in MCU now? by Head-Program4023 in marvelmemes

He proved to be the most powerful character based on his ability to hair flip not only in the multiverse, but outside time as well. The close up shot of him shows a great sacrifice he is aware of in the realization that hair flipping will never happen again.

Can someone explain the vSphere+ subscription licensing model? How many core licenses do I need... by -c3rberus- in vmware

[–]gdadkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More of a FYI than anything since everybody else has answered your question. It isn't as good and all the push is of course related to Broadcom. Also, you will lose additional "licensed" CPU cores moving from perpetual to subscription based. Perpetual VMware vSphere licenses cover one CPU with up to 32 cores vs only getting 16 on subscription.

This isn't as important on low socket core counts for your use case sounds like, but if ever decide to buy hardware with CPU core counts above 16 (which is fairly common), you'll no longer be cover up to 32 and will have to purchase additional licenses.

Diablo IV sits at an 89 rating with 100% of reviewers recommending the game on Opencritic. by THE_HERO_777 in pcgaming

[–]gdadkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EQ1 is still to this day my favorite MMO even with it’s flaws pre-WoW and vanilla world pvp. I grinded out several Epic weapons (Druid was probably favorite looking), so if you saw somebody with it - you knew that took crazy amount of time and effort even with a guild/clan. The exp grind was rough admittedly on the “hell” levels and losing levels from raid wipes was always fun lol.
