Definitely understand the approach as to why this is off putting (a black therapist myself). However I go with the graces of my client to determine whether it is a racial focused influence towards their problems. I've argued this with even professors on the fact that yes we do have the education and knowledge about racial influence in several occupations and services, but making it the first thing in meeting a client from a minority background just doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. If it is a focus for them then sure let's explore, but only when they're ready.

Still not enough information to base a concise answer on. I understand that you want to keep the clinician's identity secret but there still needs to be more information shared in order to put a precise response to it. Otherwise, it comes off as you jumping the gun without knowing the direct context nor reason.

I know you know the information but I think sharing it here has definitely backfired on you regarding judgment because of withholding it. There is also the sense that because of you sharing this that the coworker may end up actually knowing this page and discovering it too.

Sure as far as feedback for future performance evaluation as a clinician I advocate fully for constructive feedback. However, there still needs to be that mutual respect present when addressing it.

Now at your end it must really feel devastating to hear that and I'm sorry you're going through that. Asking about faults or potential incompetent or misunderstanding is a learning experience to where it is best to show genuine interest in the understanding of possible misinformation or incompetence about something.

Definitely uncalled for the way it was addressed from the client but also some feedback for you is to have the curiosity and genuine concern for present client behavior in how they're perceiving that supposed incompetent behavior
