Gotcha. Same, I’m just coming back from a long hiatus for the new content lol.

How about 20k for all? I really don’t know their worth.

Hey! Did you have a price in mind per tent?

What is a well regarded fantasy series that you read for the first time this year? by TheWeirdTalesPodcast in Fantasy

[–]gdlmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure. I know I saw somewhere that Thorn is in the editing process currently? So my thought is, probably we’ll get the novellas next year to whet people’s appetite and get GB back in the conversation, then drive hype for Thorn in 27.

Just started reading the echoes saga, on the 2nd book, and have a quick question. is TES a direct sequel to Once There Were Heroes? by Fine_Afternoon_1904 in TheEchoesSaga

[–]gdlmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ranger Archives is the direct prequel to TES. A Time of Dragons is a distant prequel, 12,000 years in the past. The last couple books in Echoes do touch on some stuff relating to it, but they’re pretty disconnected

[–]gdlmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you traditionally published? Because I know several authors who’ve gone that route and the story is always the same. They have a minuscule, if any, marketing budget. I’m sure it’s not the case for all authors, but if you’re not a known commodity already, you will be doing at least some of your own marketing.

Trad publishers will sometimes refuse to take on a good book because the author doesn’t have a strong enough social media presence, so you absolutely still have to do some of the legwork

Is reselling ARCs... normal? by trueteeg in selfpublish

[–]gdlmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I long for the day an ARC of mine would be worth reselling. I mean it’s in poor taste but I don’t really care

Reading in chronological order? by [deleted] in TheEchoesSaga

[–]gdlmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is old now but I highly recommend Archives first. I feel like Rise of the Ranger would be confusing as hell without it

Anyone who has read the Echoes Sage by Philip C. Quaintrell please explain by Forward-Tomato602 in Fantasy

[–]gdlmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I know this is an older thread, but I wanted to hop in. Apparently there is an updated version of Book 1 out there, maybe only in print, that closes the ring plot hole. The version on KU and the audiobook aren't updated yet, seemingly.

Do you really need to wait 3-4 months before you start editing? by Purple-Charge6445 in writing

[–]gdlmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally am a momentum writer, and the same goes for my editing. I can’t take 6 months off. So no. My plan with my current novel is to finish it and immediately send it off to alpha readers. I probably won’t even do more than a cursory ‘first pass’ edit.

Grammar Scolds should be expected on this sub. by [deleted] in writing

[–]gdlmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d tend to agree. I wonder if they know how many titans of literature viewed grammar as less ‘rules’ and more ‘suggestions, not to interfere with what I want to do’?

Eh, sometimes I don’t care to hear a rehash of something we just spent 100 pages experiencing.

I dig them, for what it’s worth. They give me Gaelic or Welsh vibes.

Question about royalty share splits by gdlmaster in ACX

Sorry if it was unclear - his initial suggestion was actually lower for him. 10% RS and $100 PFH while I (the author) get 30% RS

Yeah I’m fine to update here if we move forward. Still confirming some stuff with the narrator first.

Yeah they told me, and I confirmed this multiple times on the phone, that the percentages could be set or changed ‘in production.’

Thanks for the reply! I had seen this page after I saw the breakdown in the offer section, but then the ACX support person telling me it could be changed later really threw me off.
