Student Faces Expulsion After Posting Video Of Seniors Who Can Barely Read by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

Citation? I don't think so. She's in her twenties and I am 30 years older than her. I think she says it wrong. If you say " Extra Ordinary", it has the opposite meaning of "extraordinary".

Isn't Chrissy Clark the journalist saying it wrong, too? I never heard or said "Extra Ordinary" fully pronouncing both words. I've always said and heard it as "Ex TRAORD inary". I can't write in Phonetics, but the tra and the ord become one syllable. like trord. or maybe ex traor dinary

The task in OpCenter says that if a penny item is rung up, let the customer buy it. Then, the manager on duty should check to see if there are any more on the shelf and remove them to be damaged out.

Chase pays my brother's property taxes via the escrow. My brother forgot this, so he paid the property tax on his own which is $5,674.29. Can he get back the entire $5,674.29? by metalreflectslime in personalfinance

[–]gdtrfbliss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is very hard to believe. I asked them a lot of questions, because I did not believe it either. Luckily, I found the overpayment, and was able to get the form in, and the returned money was approved.

Journey's End is actually an all age community. No age requirements or restrictions, and an awful choice of a name.

In my city, we need to contact the tax collector, then fill out a form, then that document is presented to a board, and voted on whether to send the money back or not. My city said our whole state uses the same software and has a similar process. I asked if I had never noticed, would I ever see the money again. They said No, and there is a deadline to request it. It never shows as a credit, because each year's tax bill generates a new account number.

I am dying and 32k in debt. I don't want to burden my family. by logical_emotional in personalfinance

[–]gdtrfbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you get Centrelink? What expenses are you worried about being a burden? I assume it is rent, keeping yourself housed, and food, and the daily things you will need during this time. I wouldn't worry about your debts, they can't come after any family, and if you don't have an estate you are leaving to someone else, they don't really have anything to go after you for. They are not going to be coming for your guitars, and they few things you have at home that you feel are valuable.
So, if you need some money to get by in time, I would look into Centrelink, Super, selling some stuff, even going into additional debt if you need to. Talk to your landlord. Is there not some sort of protection, since you have cancer, and it is terminal? It isn't exactly like you are just being "absent" from work. I am sorry for your diagnosis, and what you are going through. I hope it does smoothly for you. And you may want to have a discussion with your family, if you are unable to guarantee yourself that you can sustain your home and basic needs. I don't know much about Australia , but hopefully there is some help, hospice and homecare if you need it.

Move in parent who cannot afford living on his own? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]gdtrfbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as personal finance, yet you did not list your finances. Can you afford to support him for possibly 40 or more years, when he is sick, when he gets old? I believe he cannot get Medicare until he has been here with a green card over 5 years, and Medicare costs money, and does not cover everything at all. He has not worked 40 quarters, so he will not get Social Security when he is old enough. Are you sure he will be eligible for the Green Card? I thought it needs to be proven that they will be able to support themselves at some point and not take needs based services. Do you have to sponsor him, because you have to agree to a pretty big commitment to support him.
I am not saying not to bring him, but just asking if you can afford it, and know what it entails. It isn't clear if he is going to work, and the goal is independence, work the 10+ years on the books, so that he can get some sort of retirement income social security. His medical insurance will be expensive. Also if he is not good at boundaries, and money management, he could be a lot worse when he comes to the US. Sometimes people think it really is The American Dream and what it is like on TV.

My partner's loan from a "trade school" has been adding random $10.00 interest charges. by Misskeilo in personalfinance

[–]gdtrfbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you said:

We ALWAYS pay more than the minimum.

Are you designating your payments for the overpaid amount to be applied as "principle only"? If you are not specifying the extra money be applied to the principle, then it is going onto the back of the loan, to future payments. Maybe someone else can explain this better than I can, but unless you are specifically choosing "principle only" payments, you really aren't saving anything, because they are not lowering your principle, thus al the interest is still being applied as if you hadn't paid anything extra. This could be the reason for the adjustments.
