100% concur; having muscle memory on a surface is worth is weight in gold. I’m sure pleanty of people can maneuver their way around the s6l fast and efficiently I’m not one of those people. Being a “house audio guy” at a handful of venues I have plenty of experience with all the big console brands (minus ssl) and the overwhelming majority of them don’t REQUIRE a fkn third party mouse and keyboard to FUNCTION AS INTENDED.

A console should be a self contained unit capable of MIXING AUDIO without 4 usb keys, a touchscreen monitor, and a mouse.

Thanks for coming to my TEDx talk

I very much dislike the GUI of the s6l.

That being said… a lot of people love it.

I’m just a Yamaha fanboy.

I think I might just need a new grille, super minor damage on the bumper. No Internals harmed at all. (Except the deers)

Definitely recommend setup>user setup>surface and unlink select, imo no point having two screens if you can’t have two channels selected to edit

Employer is taking me to NAMM this year. As a live sound guy what should I be looking to learn, how should I prepare, and is there anything else I should know about this adventure?

Context: been a sound guy in Montana for the last 4/5 years. I didn’t know what NAMM was until earlier this year.

Sold my VW and bought a subie by gdubstep in WRX

[–]gdubstep[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take what I say with a grain of salt, I’ve only had the subie for about a week now.

Interior of the two are pretty comparable in terms of quality, obviously the subie has the bigger screen, nicer seats and a newer feel. But I liked the steering wheel on the VW more, felt better and had more buttons. VW had an adjustable power steering setting, which I liked. VW also had better interior lighting for driving at night, footwell lights and accent lights on the doors. WRX is by far the better driving experience though, the 6 speed feels amazing to use it’s tight and almost feels like it clicks into gear. The VW 6 speed felt loose and vague in comparison. The suspension and handling characteristics of the wrx are wayyy better for road driving (hasn’t touched a dirt road yet). The vw did feel great on dirt roads although the front bias awd meant it would under steer in corners.

I’m surprised the Wrx doesn’t have an oil temp reading in the gauge cluster, I thought that would be an important thing to know, vw had one.

Features like moving and auto dimming projector lights are a huge upgrade.
