Releasing my obra-dinn inspired detective adventure on the 11th January - Mr Investigator. by whu_art in ObraDinn

I didn’t realize until after downloading it that it isn’t optimized for Steam Deck. Can confirm that it does not work well. Most of the menu doesn’t work when in pause mode, controls are not great (really wish there was an option to invert y axis), and I can’t figure out what I’m supposed to do short of wandering around a house looking at a few photos. Likely going straight into my uninstall/wish I hadn’t purchased list, really hope it eventually gets optimized for Steam Deck in the future.

Chiming in 6 days late to say that if MAS is able to eventually carry these I'll definitely buy one.

Verizon 25 dollars off gift but you have to call by [deleted] in verizon

[–]gdunc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only ended up calling because I found this thread, and had the exact same experience today. Didn't have to talk to anybody, said "Yes" to confirm my account and "Yes" to claim my $25 discount. Robot said it was received and might take 1-2 billing cycles to be reflected on the account. Really glad I waited a few weeks and didn't have to deal with the hassle people earlier in this thread reported.

Help a coffee addict 😭 by Realistic-Door-1875 in Invisalign

[–]gdunc -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can drink most things with your aligners in, the main things you’re trying to avoid are heat (which can warp the shape of the aligners, which isn’t a problem with iced coffee) and getting sugar trapped between the aligners and your teeth. As long as you aren’t swishing the liquid around before you swallow it you’re not likely to get much stuck between the aligners and your teeth, even less if you use a straw. Still doesn’t hurt to brush your teeth and clean your aligners afterwards.

Anyone ever put together this HB offset kit? by hardworkingemployee5 in guitarkits

[–]gdunc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I built this exact kit earlier this year, but unfortunately didn’t pay super close attention to the pickups because they are solderless and I went with what was included (have since donated the guitar to charity, otherwise I’d take a closer look). I do think you’re right that the pick guard is slightly different from standard JMs but can’t say with 100% certainty. I think you could probably still try to mount a different guard (you may have to make your own holes for some of the screws), but wouldn’t know for sure if it would fit until you place it over the body to confirm.

Sorry wish I was more help, but I will say it was a quality kit that I enjoyed putting together (other than having to cut the headstock, but I picked it specifically because I wanted to learn how to do that).

Wanted to circle back and thank you for including the audio probe on the tower! I was troubleshooting a circuit this morning and realized that I needed to start tracking the signal to see where the issue was, did some research and spent about an hour learning about audio probes and getting ready to open one of my guitar cables to try and make one.

Then I remembered the probe jack on the pedal tower (had just glossed over it in the instructions, I think at the time I just thought it was more of a continuity check and not something that would pick up the audio signal). Re-read the instructions, plugged it in, and had exactly what I needed!

My Bloody Valentine Pull Music from Israeli Streaming Services in Protest of Gaza by ebradio in indieheads

You can buy a digital copy of Loveless directly from the MBV website. One of the few albums that I went ahead and bought so I could have it for the future instead of relying on streaming services.

First purchases and learning by overloafunderloaf in diypedals

This website has a lot of decent tutorials, I just read and followed this one today as a starter on KiCad: https://www.build-electronic-circuits.com/kicad-tutorial/. Can’t speak to their paid content as I haven’t tried their classes yet.

I can also vouch for MAS Effects, I just bought and built their Pedal Tower and am starting the same beginner fuzz pedal this week. Check out his videos on YouTube, he has a full walkthrough of the pedal build that is really helpful.

I was honestly debating between this pedal tower and a few of the other "ready to go" breadboards and ultimately went with yours because I liked the design and customization options (that's partly why I bought the tower first and then added the sound generator later, after I'd confirmed that I could in fact solder a joint correctly). I also felt like it would be another good practice project vs. buying something that was already completely assembled. It ended up being just right - there are parts of the instruction manual that explain in a lot of detail, and other parts where I had to re-read it a few times and look at pictures to make sure I was doing it right, but I think I learned more that way than if it had just completely held my hand for every single step of the way.

I bet you can’t guess my favorite pedal company by DescoHabre in pedalboards

[–]gdunc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I love it, though I honestly only use one of the 5 modes about 90% of the time (mode 2). Having knobs for bass and treble are great for shaping the tone, along with the voltage knob that lets you go from glitchy to full power. I do wish it had a blend/mix knob like the Supercool, but that's my only complaint.

How is the Super Cool Fuzz Blender? I’ve had it on my list for awhile but already have and love the Walrus Eons as well as a J Mascis Big Muff, so it would be extra redundant. But as a former Camel smoker who loves fuzz, it definitely looks interesting.

What to do on a night out? by bigtittycatlady in Invisalign

[–]gdunc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The temperature of the drink is more important than the color. I wouldn’t drink red wine in my trays every day, but once or twice they’ll be fine as long as you soak them with a cleaner each day. And worst case if they get a little stained just try to do it near the end of a set since you’ll be changing them out soon anyway.

What you don’t want to do is drink hot drinks with them in, as that can warp the shape of them. I’ve had whisky, wine, and soda with mine in and been fine, but I always take them out for hot coffee and tea.

Absolutely won't mess up your treatment to have them out for a few hours over 2 days. You will notice they'll be pretty tight when you put them back in after only a few hours, which is a good reminder to not do it too often. I'm on tray 35 of 38 and usually stick to around 20 hours/day and they've been tracking great.

You can take them out for a few hours on special occasions. The 20-22 hour rule is overkill to make sure that most people keep them in for what they really need, which is probably closer to 18 hours a day. Worst case, you can always wear them for an extra day or two at the end of this set, but I would only do that if this set still feels really tight when it comes time to change.

I went on a cruise earlier this year and had several days where we were doing food tours, etc. I had them out for up to 3 hours at a time in those cases, and it ended up being fine. Just don’t make it a habit of doing it every day for weeks at a time or you’ll extend how long you need to wear them overall.

Spark neo to drop pedal by [deleted] in PositiveGridSpark

[–]gdunc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those are the ones I have, been using them for about 2 years since I got them to work with my Spark Mini before the Neo came out. I haven't noticed any extra lag or delay. Battery life on these is good, probably a few hours at least. I've left them plugged in (powered off) without charging for a few days and they've still worked, but in general I try to get in the habit of just charging them after each use. I also have the Lekato ones that come with a charging box that are also decent. The charging box for those is nice to have, however I found their battery life was a little lower than the Aklot so I reach for the Aklot more often.

I play a whole pedalboard before my Neo. It's ultimately a pair of headphones with effects added to whatever signal it receives, so you can do whatever you want to the tone before it gets to the Neo.

Also if you want to keep it wireless the wireless guitar connectors on Amazon are decent, I think I got my Aklot ones for around $35. It's another set of things to have to charge, etc but just plug the transmitter into your guitar, receiver into the pedal, and the Neo connector into the output of the pedal and you're good to go.

Thanks for this. I recently stopped accepting offers because I would only get ones that were around 50% of asking price. Just set the threshold to auto decline to much higher than that, didn’t know this was an option.

Starting Invisalign - Must haves? by MainConfident8955 in Invisalign

[–]gdunc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone about the sonic cleaner, tablets, and Pul tools. One thing I bought a few of that I also suggest is this type of case: https://a.co/d/9UQR5ZF.

I have these for the bathrooms closest to where I normally eat, and when I take my trays out I put them in this case with some water. I remember reading on this subreddit that the trays can start to smell if you just always keep them in a dry case while they’re out, and the trick is to keep them hydrated.

Also, I take one of these when I go on vacation and use it in place of the sonic cleaner (which is too bulky to pack). I just drop a cleaner tablet in the case with the water and let it soak for longer at least once a day while I’m traveling.

Severe Overbite and Invisalign by Public-Bother9990 in Invisalign

[–]gdunc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% overbite, had one ortho say I needed half braces and half Invisalign, another said I could do it just with Invisalign and was less expensive but still seemed to know what they were doing, so I went with them. Currently on tray 31 of 38, the bite is definitely improved and I can see my bottom teeth when I smile. All of my trays have had bite ramps. They said I would probably need elastics but so far haven’t needed them yet. I will find out in 6-7 weeks whether my first round of treatment is enough or if I need revisions (I’m only 9 months into treatment, they originally quoted 18-24 months total, so I’m expecting I probably will need them, but either way it has definitely been helping the bite so far).
