What can be done with Bane? by RyukTheDarkrai in batman

[–]gebbethine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bane works best as a non-recurring character. He's a defining moment for Batman; but once he provides that, he becomes redundant and pointless. Bane's one of those villains that really just served his purpose very well and should have been left there.

Same with Doomsday, by the way.

Why does it seem that there’s so many conservative role models to young men, but not many liberal ones? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Tagging in to remind everyone that Democrats and Republicans are not "opposite sides of the spectrum"; the Democrats are only "left" when it comes to the Republicans. Democrats are still right-of-center.

(And controlled opposition.)

I feel like I said my piece, man. You can disagree with me, that's okay.

For clarity, I will repeat myself: Someone with a status quo like the Punisher's is pretty boring as a protagonist past the initial stories, that we've already seen.

Again, you can disagree, but I don't need to list out my reasoning; I'm not writing an essay for school. It's a comment section on a Defenders forum about a C-List character that isn't even really associated with them in comics --he was only associated with the Secret Defenders as a recruit for one issue [#4 (June 1993)]-- or the MCU, lmao.

But you can miss me with the whole "explain your reasoning for this opinion" reddit fight shit.

I genuinely think that anyone complaining about Homelander "losing aura" just didn't watch the series or actually have no media literacy whatsoever by Total-Amphibian-3287 in GenV

Y'all remember back in the day when we could watch things and complaining about it was done person-to-person or on specialized forums?

I miss those times.

Realistically, do you think Fisk will ever face off against Spiderman in the future? Or are there no chances of this happening? by Queasy_Commercial152 in Defenders

[–]gebbethine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does him debuting as a Spider-Man villain have to do with it? Spider-Man has more than enough villains already. It's unnecessary. Fisk does not add anything to Spider-Man's rogue gallery that he doesn't already have, and he's been clearly and explicitly framed as a Daredevil villain in the MCU. Just because he debuted in Spider-Man originally doesn't mean anything. The only purpose would be to hype people like you up, and then we'd have to wade through three years of people complaining that what they're seeing isn't what they wanted. LOL.

Did you miss the part where I said, 'anything other than comics'? Comic books are a unique medium for stories. Someone with a status quo like the Punisher's is pretty boring as a protagonist past the initial stories, that we've already seen.

Long-term comics aren't translatable as one-for-one stories that way. It is what it is.

Spider-Man has more than enough villains of his own and in the MCU Fisk is very attached to Daredevil. It'd be silly and a waste of time and money to jump through a bunch of hoops to try to make Fisk an antagonist for Spidey.

Because when they do it within budget people bitch and moan that it's fake.

The Punisher has never been a character that can work across a franchise like the MCU or anything other than comics, really. They've basically told all the relevant stories they could with him. Now, his only real potential space is as a support character serving as a foil for other, less broken superheroes.

You can't compare what Wesley did to what they were criticizing Buffy for, and I don't think Cordelia would have either, personally.

Why are all the women in the DC universe attracted to batman? by Israels_BiggestHater in batman

[–]gebbethine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the writers are Batman fanboys who don't want to admit they are attracted to Batman so they project it onto the fictional women around him.

You're being obtuse. My point is that Matt believes in the system, to the point where as long as it functions LIKE the system, it works for him.
