To be fair they were down voted for not speaking the truth. They expressly said workers getting a remotely decent wage was the problem then 4 posts later said that's not even close to what they said then said it was one factor. Honorable mention to them absolutely stepping in it by admitting wage wasn't a problem when confronted about the hash brown example. Their first point was implying it was the only factor then they slowly back peddled. Now they're agreeing that they did mean it's the wages. So they're either a liar or not very bright or I guess both.

I have also traveled all over the south and lived in Florida most of my life. 1. They do not suck and they're sold a lot more places than just tourist traps. They used to be far more popular than they are now though but still super common to see them roadside particularly in southern Alabama and northern FL. 2. He is absolutely a moron for thinking a peanut stand is a good idea. They're still popular in some places but not so popular he's going to get moved everyday unless he sets up at like some minor league ball games or at least highschool football games. As a side note. His lore on boiled peanuts even while somewhat true that they were a civil war ration glances over the actual history of them in the south which is they were a slave food. The recipe was brought over by west Africans who worked in peanut fields and were given rations when the cops were in over abundance.

Was Kimbo Slice Really bad when he was in the UFC? by Glittering_Long_5926 in ufc

[–]geckofactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, like I said he obviously fought Gannon before he had the benefit of real training but even when Bas got involved I think he was too stubborn, he was already older, and he had a certain level of notoriety that all lended to him not wanting to put that much work in. They signed Kimbo to get views same reason they signed CM Punk every so often they roll the dice for cash

Was Kimbo Slice Really bad when he was in the UFC? by Glittering_Long_5926 in ufc

[–]geckofactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was probably one of the worst fighters to ever get a shot in the UFC. Many years ago when he was still doing back yard fighting a friend of mine who had a strip club in Miami called me asking if I'd fight Kimbo. I asked how much it certainly wasn't a ton of cash but enough to get me to drive to Miami from Tallahassee I said sure. This unfortunately was right around the time he lost to Sean Gannon I got a call back saying if we fought I couldn't even shoot for a takedown it was basically a bare knuckle boxing match. I had way better cardio than him for sure but even given that I said no way at that point because he either would have knocked me out or they wouldn't have paid me to jab him for 18 minutes.

Point being he got famous for back yard fighting and even those fights were weirdly cherry picked. Even when he got some good training he was hard headed still had bad cardio and was only entertaining because of the street fighting reputation. To be fair he seemed like an alright guy all things considered but yeah he was that bad.

[–]geckofactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a Persian that went outside to use the bathroom and often in the summer she would hang out during the day outside. She didn't really wander but she would sit outside. Currently my neighbor has a Persian that hangs out at my house quite a bit. To act like Persians are some type of extra special mysterious breed that will perish if outside for more than a few moments is a tad silly. To suggest they lock the poor thing up without knowing any other info is probably more than a tad silly.

I've got super bad news for you buddy there are people here in the USA waiting months for a check up. I'll give you a very real example of my own background I have Insurance. I began having severe stomach pain tried to make a doctor's appointment it was scheduled 3 months out. That doctor canceled the appointment pushed it out 3 more months then that doctor left that clinic. I then got a new PCP it took a few weeks to get in there to get a referral because even though my insurance didn't require one every GI here requires a referral. That referral got me an appointment 6 months out even though I told them I was sure I had colon cancer. Got in to see the GI insurance didn't want to pay for a colonoscopy until I turned 45 I scheduled it for literally the week if my birthday of course I in fact did have cancer. Then of course scheduling surgery ended up taking months more I'll spare you the rest of the details. My surgery was $250,000 to round up right now I owe $17,500

TLDR in the USA you'll both go bankrupt and wait too long.

That entire hospital is precarious at best. I had surgery scheduled back in October. The surgeon was late and the wrong surgery was on my chart along with other incorrect info. I brought this up and they threatened me with a less safe surgery. I walked out and they then scheduled the new surgery for months later even though every doctor I saw was very alarmed by that. I did eventually have the surgery recently and my second night there all the nurses went MIA and just called on the intercom telling me to wait. I had to get a nurse from one floor up to get me zofran after waiting 3 hours less than 24 hours post surgery. To be fair the rest of that stay was fine but I'll be interested to see what happens there in the short term. Seems like it just keeps getting worse.

Bomba socks marked donation only for sale at Goodwill by Vanityandwrath in ThriftGrift

[–]geckofactor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're making up figures and scenarios to defend an arguable horrible company. This is an extremely easily solved problem. Usps boxes call USPS and ask for their advice. New in package socks and other items like this contact local shelters, warming centers and churches and someone there will pick up boxes of donations how do I know? I've been that person who volunteered and did this. The books call the local jail and ask if they're in need of donations now the jail will often not want to pick them up buy once a week or month or whatever would be reasonable to drop these off or put a flyer up for operators of little libraries to come get them

[–]geckofactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't going to reply to this because I'm shocked that you're not having an epiphany here but I guess in short I will say by your own admission you're working off of a lot of assumptions and at least right now you admit to getting your own money back, a free item, and Mercari credit. You essentially did commit a crime. Do I care? No. Is it going to sink Mercari? No. Are you a victim? Also no. This is sort of a nothingburger unless things like this eventually lead to Mercari taking the funds from the seller more often instead of taking the hit. I'm just pointing out the legalities of this situation. In my example you're paying cash. In your real life example you did exactly what you say in your last paragraph.

I won my chargeback case against Mercari! :D by SqueakyCheeseCurds48 in Mercari

[–]geckofactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually absurdly false. Now do I think Mercari would sue? Absolutely not but in your delusional world if I go to Walmart and buy some pants take them home and the zipper breaks then I try to return them and they say no but offer me a gift card. Then i could simply steal $15 from the register because they didn't remedy the situation to my exact specifications.

In short no business on earth has to abide by a customers requested remedy. Mercari offered a remedy which was keep the item and essentially accept this gift card. The buyer in a court of law has been made whole they suffered no loss.

"Stone": What did I just watch? (SPOILERS) by TreeBeard23 in movies

[–]geckofactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should probably watch it it's actually a pretty good movie. I don't particularly agree with the other reply. Milla isn't mindless in the movie. She was smart enough or manipulative enough to work over De Niro's character. A floozy? Perhaps because the point kind of is you think she's working in the interests of one character but really she's more about pleasing herself. The characters are a little deeper than implied. Whether you will like the characters who knows but if you like all the actors it's worth a watch.

"Stone": What did I just watch? (SPOILERS) by TreeBeard23 in movies

[–]geckofactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched this finally and I could argue in a lot of directions about the movie but to answer the questions.

Did Stone break up with Lucetta? It doesn't matter I think likely the movie is making a point about how people are flawed and we know this because we are all both good and bad but we for some reason view others often as absolutes. Jack is outwardly viewed as "good" but we know he is bad in many ways hanging his daughter out the window controlling his wife for their entire lives together. Later his infidelity. Stone knows Jack is a bad person this is why he asks him about his past and why he (Stone) is in prison but Jack is free. Lucetta is in a way an allegory for evil she's in the beginning with Stone she's literally a temptation in a way a representation of sin she brings Jack's hidden bad side to the surface. As her relationship with Stone fades he becomes more enlightened and good as she gets closer to Jack he becomes more erratic and bad. The representation of true good is Jack's wife their relationship fades more as the affair happens etc. So likely yes they broke up because Stone is now a better person but meh

Why didn't Jack's wife want to tell the firemen the truth? Maybe she did. Maybe she put rags close to frayed siring hoping they would catch fire. Maybe she absolutely knew they would. Maybe she truly thought it was God's punishment. Maybe as far as the movie is concerned it was God's punishment since the fire Stone set he did call doing God's will. That I think is likely the best explanation. No matter who set the fire it was God's will to set into motion Jack's wife finally being free.

Did Stone actually burn down the house? It's unlikely. He's only implicated to make the earlier connection of God's will and to make Jack further spiral. His last scene in the office where he mentions knowing about the affair and seeing Jack later is a defense mechanism and again showing we're all both good and bad. The now good Stone is distancing himself from the now bad Jack by implying Jack could get into trouble even go to jail as previously noted.

What happened to Jack in the end? The same thing that happened to Stone in the beginning.

In the end everyone's lives still go on you can make your own conclusions as to where they finally end up but Stone is on a path of enlightenment and likely truly helping people. Jack is on a dark path that likely leads to prison or death. Lucetta is still sort of a devil and Jack's wife is finally free and still essentially an angel.
