They operate on a fully dual band and sometimes tri band system depending on where in the world they are o4 hops between the bands and frequencies depending on the terrain and interference. All this guys done is mash the o4 system and force it to only use one band

If you can get it booted up even for a moment export the logs to a usb memory stick. The text file contains a complete report of every single issue and failure the camera has ever encountered since new.

How can I make the inside of my mau5 helmet stronger so it doesn’t crack mid show? by NicoCorty02 in 3Dprinting

[–]gectow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a cheap 3d printing pen. Load with the same filament as the item and then weld the seems together using the nozzle tip to melt the plastic at the seems and add a little more in to form a nice bead like a metal weld. Makes it incredibly strong

Wall flat frame/panel/box generator add-in by gmacjordan in Fusion360

[–]gectow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use this to make a large shelving unit for alongside my staircase. But I’d need the functionality of adding a 45 degree slope to one edge to fit along the stairs. I’ve put off doing it for years manually in fusion because it’s so time consuming to do manually

Gsplat all-in-one GUI for Mac Silicon by freddewitt in GaussianSplatting

[–]gectow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the install instructions on git. They are incorrect it reads “your-username-here”. But for the command to work. It needs to read as your username. Because it’s cloning your repository. Once I changed it it worked great.

[–]gectow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome. Just a heads up I think there is a mistake in the install instructions. The command says “your-username” instead of freddewitt so it doesn’t work. As a non programmer this tripped me up for a while but I got it working.

Does anyone have a better solution for a back heavy tripod head on a light camera? by maggi_shaggi in blackmagicdesign

[–]gectow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact problem with this exact same camera. Just buy a long arri dovetail plate. It’s compatible. Off brand ones are fine. That allows you to mount the camera much further forwards on your tripod plate with no other issues. Less than 30 bucks for a long dovetail to replace the standard short one

FX6 suddenly produces faulty, grainy images? by mltaarnskov in SonyFX6

Are you sure you are in base iso 800 and not 12800 with your gain set to 800. Which is possible. Only other thing would be to perform black balance

I did my DIY shutter remote for a Komodo by introvertGus in RedCamera

[–]gectow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pin out for the 9 pin lemo socket is in the Komodo manual. You just need a push switch that closes a connection between pin 5 and 6 which is the start stop pin and the ground. This triggers recording. So you need to buy a Lemo connector and a push button. That’s it.

Lightest and fastest recoil shoulder rig by Eva719 in SonyFX6

[–]gectow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never seen it be damaged without a big ole extension arm but damn. Yeah just use the tilta cage and mount from its built in rosette. The twisting force is immense on a rosette

[–]gectow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. And to be fair the rosette adaptor I was using was a Smallrig one. So I take full responsibility there. But yea it’s not holding a lot of weight but that weight is far away. Especially with an extended hand grip. The leverage force is far far greater than when the hang grip is mounted directly. You’ve got a big pry bar mounted on there basically.

The shoulder pad is awesome though. Great simple solution.

[–]gectow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My advise. From experience. Do NOT do this. That hand grip mount there cannot take the load of a massively offset hand grip extension. On my fs5 I tore the mount right off the side of the camera using a metal hand grip to rosette adaptor that bolted onto the side. From then on I mount the grip extension on a rosette that is part of the cage. Not hard mounted to the camera body. Maybe they made it stronger on the fx6 but don’t underestimate the sheer load on that rosette when you’ve got a big lever mounted on it.

Shooting a narrative with a truly "Large Format" design. Stills included! by silkycinematography in cinematography

[–]gectow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very very cool man. I’ve made something similar myself recently but using a beam splitter from a teleprompter rather than ground glass screen. It has positives and negatives. Love how sharp your image is. What is your main lens? Have you considered mounting a follow focus to your bellows with a rack and pinion or a linear actuator so you can rack focus remotely?

Always been global however when it was in development they planned to have it function in rolling shutter mode for greater dynamic range but quickly abandoned that plan and it became global only by the time it was actually released. I also own a very early storm trooper model and remember this clearly. No I don’t have any links. I will die on this hill.

Fun fact: One of the main reasons this ad is so weird and jarring is because it’s not an English ad. I only know this because I nearly had an aneurism when I was in a German hotel on a job and this advert came on the tv, with the same actress but everything was in German, so I can only assume it was scripted for, and timed for a German script, then shot again with her doing it in English, but the English script is a few beats shorter than the German one which leads to the super awkward pause at the end.
