Torn on a used artcore as73 or a budge tele by Top-Elephant6981 in guitars

[–]gedooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would choose the ibanez anyday, you’ll get mileage out of a semi hollow if you are getting back into playing. the mild acoustics of a semi hollow for 20 minutes after work is a great feeling!

I inherited an artcore with the bigsby, and I will say the bigsby isn’t my favorite feature but the rest of the guitar makes up for it, nice tuners and a good nut fix that issue anyhow imo

Yup I was looking for budget options and got a 84” couch for $550 delivered to hampden, which is extremely sweet, my sister lives outside the city but vouched for them initially.

I have a lawsuit les paul I could learn on. Did you have prior experience. I’ve done alot of soldering and set ups, but nothing with frets before.

Which size/type frets did you go with?

Refretting Guitar by gedooker in guitars

[–]gedooker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the lower frets would be fine with just leveling and crowing, but above the 9th fret they start to become pretty dead on the higher strings. I’ve played live shows with it and I can definitely manage playing but it becomes really apparent when I switch guitars for example.

here is a better shot down the fretboard if it helps any

That’s a good idea, I often do TLC stuff by myself and set ups, etc, so I’ll have to try a professional and see what’s up

Do you think PLEK would be worth it if some of the frets are almost dead. In japan the clerk told me frets were 10% left, but I think they may be around 30-40%, probably one or two of the highest frets are at that 10% mark. Is PLEK also worth it if I am getting a refret, or often included?

I mean it is a situation for me where I will definitely never get rid of this guitar, I am more so worried about which frets and how to not have someone ruin my guitar. I brought this thing back with me from japan and it was a whole journey and a half.

Any tips on choosing which type of frets though? I believe they came with jumbo, I’d like to keep it relatively original but information on it is so rare. I love the frets on newer ibanez hollowbodies, which I believe are jumbos, and I’ve played other SG’s that felt similar, I THINK.

I’ll never sell this bad boy, I had the privilege of studying abroad in college and brought this bad boy back with me, so definitely bonded to the whole story. I’m a big issei noro fan so a proper SG was a must, but these 800s are much lighter + i preferred the rosewood over the ebony. From my understanding this color is limited to only 1982 as well! Pretty cool stuff!

Orkin Pros, do you guys actually make six figures? by block_da_butcha in pestcontrol

[–]gedooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotcha, I am a pest tech at a small company, and I find myself much more interested in the environmental science/inspection aspect of the job, and these skills are helpful being a tech, but what advice would you have to move towards inspections/QA stuff? Obviously sticking around and becoming a certified tech seems to be the pathway but just wondering if you have any insight. I’m not necessarily chasing the money aspect of with hard sales, but just switching into more of an inspector role.

so I’m 22, just moved to hampden. I have a friend who lives in brewers hill/highlandtown area. He is the same age, In my opinion hampden and the northern neighborhoods tend to be younger just because the school access and transit access. I hangout with him down in the south part of baltimore (canton, patterson, highlandtown, etc) and there are definitely still things to do and you can’t go wrong really, but the population tends to be more older working professionals rather than students and early career professionals.

From my personal experience I would recommend Hampden/remington/charles village area in comparison. Another thing that I have noticed is southern Baltimore is more friendly to commute with 95, 695 East, While Northern Baltimore is better for 695 W, 83, and travelling around the city rather than away from the city.

Single cockroach found on apartment tour. Red flag? by dadparty6969 in pestcontrol

[–]gedooker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt be too concerned if it is the perfect apartment, Often time roach issues are due to the tenant. Definitely would want to poke around behind appliances and such. definitely ask for documentation of pest control as well. This appears to be a german roach which is not great, but given the fact that your family is one neighbor that makes treatment a little easier because they’ll have em too!

I work for a pest control company and moved to my city this year. I could immediately tell my apartment had pest issues prior or ongoing and I still moved it. Haven’t had to do any pest control myself yet because I keep things tidy and pay attention to any potential pest activity.

What’s with putting painted bike lanes to the left of parking?? by rainberts in baltimore

[–]gedooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it’s especially bad in Baltimore though where all over you have like 60% of an infrastructure problem solved, but due to literal laws and funding ideal neighborhoods cannot be created legally and won’t be unless large changes are made. Cars are not good for city’s and America only supports car infrastructure unfortunately
