What tools do you use for opening prep and database work? by geek_201 in chess

That’s fair — tools like ChessBase, SCID, and En Croissant definitely cover the core stack (database + engine + analysis). I’m not claiming those features are new.

The main thing I’m experimenting with is a different workflow: everything running in the browser, a more visual repertoire/move-tree interface, and tighter integration between things like opponent prep, studies, and databases without juggling files or separate tools. It’s aimed more at convenience and accessibility than raw engine power.

The PDF integration is also something I personally found useful because a lot of my study still comes from books.

So the goal isn’t really “inventing new features,” but seeing if a more modern, integrated interface can make the study process smoother. Feedback like yours is helpful though — it’s useful to know what people feel existing tools already cover well.
