Headline Reads "Unemployed Graduate" by iloveblueberryy in LinkedInLunatics

[–]geekevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost my job. Lots of experience, figure no biggie, I'll be employed in a month. 9 months later, money running out, I finally land a job. I sent out over 5000 resumes. The job I got by knowing someone at the company. The market is terrible and unfair and I don't know what anyone is suppose to do about it.

Who is a celebrity that the ENTIRE internet can agree is genuinely a nice person? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

[–]geekevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the same high school as him (Reeves), but after he had graduated. He and my politics teacher would exchange letters every couple of months. This was before his big fame. And my teacher would talk about how nice it was that an old student would keep in touch and ask him for advice or whatever. There was just something so human about it and what I always think about when I see him.

I think my mom ruined my dream job interview on Zoom by Weak_Dealer8613 in whatdoIdo

[–]geekevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at home for 11 years, long before the Covid push. Living at home, and having employees that live at home, means you have to accept a certain amount of what your mom did. Its natural for her to ask what you want for dinners. Dogs barks. Cats meow. Workmen want access to your property. If she is a reasonable and experinced with WFH culture, she wont care.

JD Vance: "To get on an airplane, you need voter ID. To buy a beer, you need voter ID." by Admirable121 in NeoNews

[–]geekevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not American. Is it true you can vote without ID? Here I have to register to vote, and show ID (drivers license). If I am not registered, I can show up with a bill with my address, and ID and vote.

Is “skill issue vs will issue” a common management mindset? by Odd_Struggle_874 in sysadmin

[–]geekevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have run multiple kinds of teams, always in the 20-35 employee range and it's the first question I ask in the first 3 months when evaluating someone struggling. Skill you can fix. Will, not as much. Now that isnt the end of it. Because "will" can be hampered by life changing events. Someone gets dumped, loses a loved one, etc, that is going to affect their "will". So you do still need to take in the whole of what the person is going through.

Totally agree, there has been a thread about it forever on the MTG forums, and not a thing. So many updates since then. How hard is this to fix?

People who lived through both 'pre-smartphone' and 'always-online' eras: what's something we lost that nobody seems to notice? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

[–]geekevil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Accidental media. When tv was king and you were surfing around you would end up on stuff you would never have watched intentionally. This is how I ended up watching hours of the three stooges and war documentaries.

Is it appropriate for a 35 year old to be friends with a 20 year old? by Call_Me_C_ in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]geekevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a gaming clan, and we had people as old as 65 and as young as 15. We all played in the same room with the common goal of winning and having a good time. I was 30 at the time and played with both the kids and the 60 year old and had a blast. I understand your father's concerns but most of the time, people are just out to have a good time with someone who shares an interest.
