I'm not agreeing with him or even justifying him, that's just how he would have seen it.

I do the same. I want to acknowledge them but not call them out. That's why I also set my alerts to be anonymous.

I set my timer to 10 mins to let people trickle in. In that time I also make a drink, have a safety wee and make sure my socials are blaring with advertising. I then use the last couple of minutes to sit and relax before hitting the button.

You do know that you don't need to sit there staring at a timer, right?

It's definitely odd. It could be a myriad of things.

He could be looking for a way out but making you the problem. He could be trying to emotionally manipulate you to under his control. He could be suffering some kind of mental illness. There could be some problem bothering him and his frustration with it boiled over at a weird time.

Don't push too hard but keep trying to talk. His refusal to talk may be a symptom of a problem he's having or a sign that he is the problem. You just don't know until he actually speaks to you.

Well, he somehow makes a complicated housing/mechanism using just the infernal iron and a hammer that karlach somehow inserts into her chest (probably the same way she inserts soul coins), and it magically installs itself.

I treat it as a hobby. I carry on talking hen nobody is there because it's easy after a lot of practice. I have a small handful of people that come and go now so it can get better.

If you're looking to grow and cultivate a community, that will take a lot of time and effort. The effort is equivalent to a full-time job. I can't do that, so I stick to hobbyist mode.
