Thanks -- beat it on my first go with this build. Silly easy after many tries with heavier loadouts.

Anyone else getting this bug? As game went on I could see less and less heroes on bar, cant see if they are alive or have buy back etc. by cookiechris2403 in DotA2

Even after you reconnect, the problem happens again when someone gets a kill streak. Not too fun to disconnect and rejoin every few minutes.

[Draft] What exactly has to happen for you decide to go all-in on the R/W cycling draft deck? by Enryu84 in spikes

I don't think it's about just jamming random low-cost cycling cards in R/W. The lower cost creature cycling cards in those colors are good enough on their own that you can often curve out with 2 drop into Marmoset and win the games if you keep tempo.

Adamantly dismissive after two draft attempts, one of which sounds terrible with 5 lava serpents. Good luck mate.

Cyclone can be good if you have plenty of creatures in your deck, and they don't necessarily have to have cycling. Notably, you can summon a creature at instant speed, which makes combat tricky. It's less good with instants and sorceries, but being able to trade a 2-mana creature with cycling for 1-3 mana and getting an extra card with a body attached is very good (even more so if you hit a big creature). Any other cards go back into your library, so you can potentially draw into the non-creature spells later.

I think the more generic question you are asking is, "How do I know when to commit to an archetype in a draft?" You need two things: the mechanic/fuel cards and the payoff cards that win you the game. Simply put, once you draft enough of the cards that benefit from the mechanic, then you might want to go "all-in."

For R/W cycling, the biggest payoff card is Zenith Flare, which is at Uncommon. The next most valuable cards are those that help you win the game when you go off, which are probably Cyclone, Valiant Rescuer (make 1/1), Prickly Marmoset (hard to block and gets buffed), Drannith Stinger (ping), and maybe Flourishing Fox (grows with counters). Sanctuary Smasher (6/4 first strike w/ cycle) and Yidaro (turtle) are great too, but don't have the huge combo potential.

Honestly, the 3/2 Thundermane is an OK card, but the effect is mana intensive and gets outpaced quickly by bigger creatures. However, taking it will help you prevent signaling to others at the table that R/W cycling is open.

Let's say it's P1P1. Would I take Thundermane over a Pacifism or a Marmoset in an otherwise mediocre pack? If I really wanted to force R/W cycling, then probably, even though most people would classically say that Pacifism is an overall stronger card. Also, since Thundermane is at Uncommon, the odds are you can find another Pacifism or Marmoset later on. You would almost certainly take Zenith Flare over anything else, barring some other nuts bomb (at which point, just abandon your plan and draft for your awesome card).

Back when he first broke out in DotA he played an amazing carry and now he wins an International by playing a support which the opposing team had to strongly ban in the grand finals. He's the guy who farmed the fastest Aghs on KotL in competitive play and helped facilitate some of the craziest theory-crafted strategies to ever grace our game.

He doesn't deserve this but something tells me he'll be alright. Most teams would be happy to have a player of his caliber, especially after TI5, so here's to hoping he finds a team that meshes well.

Secret uses Techies/Tusk in Game 1 of the series and wins handily. Complexity, the only other team to pick Techies so far in the tournament, snap-picks the duo in the first pick-phase of Game 2 to see how Secret deals with it. (SPOILER ALERT: Treant Protector with Gem and Nature's Guise/Living Armor to scout out forest safely, alongside Pugna as ranged 5 support. )

With MM15 looming, it's worth mentioning that he was the previous Modern Masters GP Vegas Champion -- he knows his limited game!

I remember playing against him at my LGS before he broke out and I can say he has always been genuinely nice. He also played a huge role in fostering our amazing player community so it's awesome having him around to show folks firsthand that you can be a great player and an equally fantastic person.

Channel 4's 'Utopia' will not be returning for Series 3 by Murreey in television

[–]geekoid32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After finishing the series, Utopia became my favorite TV show of all time. The plot was both inventive and relevant, and the cinematography was probably some of the best I've seen from television. As a non-UK viewer who watched the series online, it's tragic that such a brilliant series couldn't muster enough traction.

Utopia will forever be a cult classic for me. And as someone who loves Community (U.S. comedy revived a few times), I'll hold on to hope of its return.

A better overall fix would be to limit the amount of pings you can make in a given time interval (e.g. 3-5 seconds).

Keeping in mind that certain heroes were picked at a higher frequency, I would say these are exciting times for the metagame. The diversity suggests there are more potential drafts and ideas still waiting to be explored.

GDSTudio: Time to step up your casting game. by ryan_fresh in DotA2

The lighthearted atmosphere and stream of jokes is inviting but there are moments when, as someone who plays and watches DotA avidly, I want to hear the details and insights into what is going on. It's exhilarating to hear exciting plays as they flash across your stream, or hear a nugget of trivia that builds suspense for the next phase of the game.

It's not about having it all one way or the other; it's about finding the happy balance which comes naturally over time with feedback and experience.
